| How do I connect both my earphones and speakers to my computer so that i can DJ? Problem is, there is only one output signal; how would I get turntable 1 on my earphones while turntable 2 plays through my speakers (my laptop has only one output signal and one output port) |

Hi there,
You will have to use 2 soundcards. If you're working with a laptop, it will have to be an external soundcard of course (f.e. sound blaster extigy). Than you can route your master output to one soundcard, and the other card will be used to pre-listen your headphone channel.

Thanks,
To continue on the topic pf laptop DJ' ing... If I'm using a DJ software package like Virtual DJ or any other, will it recognize both sound cards? and will it be able to setup so that one signal goes to sound card A (master-speakers) while another signal goes to sound card B (earphones). If anyone DJ' s in this manner from their laptop maybe u can let me know which software u use. Thanks Guys |

| the best software to use is Traktor. It only allows the use of 1 multi-channel sound card. Virtual DJ is ok too, and it allows you to use 2 soundcards(the built in on your laptop plus another external one). To do headphone cueing, you need to have either the multi-channel external sound card, or the two-card setup i mentioned. Then it's just a matter of setting up the program to route the appropriate deck to the channel that you will use for headphones. |

On the contrary, I find that Carrot Innovations: Virtual Turntables is better than traktor for its' customizability, improved performance & expandability. It is compatible with winamp dsps, any number of sound cards (supported by numbers of channels), advanced audio setup, & more. It's no longer available on the carrot website, but if you can find a copy, ~v.1.8 is the one to get. Using the "Jog Wheel Skin" is the best.
I use 2 external sound blaster mp3+ cards w/an external mixer, works great, because i can turn off the cue. |

| I have to agree with buzz,Traktor is the more solid of the two,Virtual DJ is hugely rescource hungry and on a 1 gig laptop that means 100% processor usage all the time, does'nt take long to get the chip up to the high 50s then it all starts to get glitchy,Traktor on the other hand does not use all the processor all the time so comp runs cooler and does'nt glitch there is no way I would play a set in public on Virtual DJ,cant be trusted. |

| I recently installed virtual Dj on my computer a couple days ago and it works fine through the headphones but from reading the other posts i understand that you either need dual soundcards or a stereo splitter of some sort duz anyone know where you can get an external sound card from? or how to use a stereo splitter so what you are hearing in your earphones isnt being heard through the speakers? |
