There will have to be some give and take for that type of solution. MP3s/MP4s when burned to a CD burn as data, not audio. To burn an audio disc, the music needs to be in AIFF files. Which are absolutely huge in comparison to MP3s. This is one of the beauties of iTunes. It hides this mess from the end-user. You download an MP4 from the iTunes music store - when you burn it to an audio disc via iTune the MP4 is converted to an AIFF on the fly. The end-user only knows that their music is now on an audio disc.
Having audio that is both downloadable and burnable by the end user to use as an audio disc is not possible without some action by the end user. The easiest solution is to direct users to use iTunes to listen to and burn the songs to disc as their heart desires. Of course, one may use any myriad of software to convert and burn the downloaded MP3s to Audio - Toast will do this. Also, there are various format converters that will convert from MP3 to AIFF and back.
Like I said the simplest solution is just to use iTunes. It's also worth noting that you can change the burning preferences for iTunes, you can burn Audio, Data or MP3 Cds. |
