The San Diego Music By Computer Group has provided a tutorial covering most of the basics of developing music files and compositions using freeware software readily available. The tutorial covers installation of the software, recording midi and audio tracks, VST effects and instruments, mixing and mastering. Examples and recommended techiques are included.

December 2007 ...
Tutorial has been updated to the latest screenshots and annotated for Music Studio operations on both MAC OSX and PC WIN XP.
Latest links to free software have been revised.
