|
|
Am I wasting my time thinking I can bring my Tascam Porta02 out of the box and use it with current audio recording computer software like Adobe Audition or Cakewalk/Sonar?
All the Tascam has are RCA outputs. RCA to USB cord? Or start over?
thanks, Del |

Thanks Brien, I will go there now. I guess I also heard that feedback rate or delay rate were going to be an issue between voice input, recording an playback/editing if I use Audition.
But I'll go check these web sites.
What I"m trying to do obviously is bring back my old home studio, but up about 10 years in technology!
I have the Tascam Porta02, a nice Alesis Digital Effects box and some nice mics.
thanks, Del |

This one copies old cassettes, vinyls, etc to computer:
HFLI1-X1 $69.95
The other one does this: Connect your PC to Stereo
HiFi-Link HFL-A1-X1; play music from computer to stereo. Way cool.
But for me to RECORD from mic to TAscam out an RCA into the computer that is recording (and mixing) the voice over pre-recorded music tracks, do I need BOTH?
I do have some old cassettes I'd love to put to CD.

Thanks for the help, Brien. I do appreciate it.
In one desktop I have a NVIDIA(R) nForce Audio (this is the machine I was attempting to set up for recording).
In the other desktop, I have a RealTek HD Sound EFfects Manager with RealTek HiDefinition Audio
???

Most likely you will interface with whatever type of audio input you have. A 1/8" stereo in is typical on a typical computer.
You would need something like this:

So are you saying I'll be fine with my set up (I had one of those RCA to 1/8 stereo plugs)??
I'll have to figure out how to record INTO the computer onto the software and not worry about the fact that the Tascam is designed to record to a built-in cassette??

Difficult to say. Want you may wind up doing is, after you hook the rca plugs to the tascam Outs and the 1/8" plug into the >IN< side of the computer audio card, putting the tape deck in <record> mode but also select the >Pause< button. This should allow the signal to pass thru the tape recorder in to the computer.

Well, now, that's a great idea. 10-4. I'll give it a shot.
Where would you suggest I go for help hooking up an older video cam (VHC) to a computer (it has only RCA jacks)?
thanks again for the help. When I get all the software up and running and give it a try, I'll let you know how I did.
We did...
thanks, Del |
