I have decided to start a project where I write and make a song for free using only software downloaded from the internet (legally) I have audacity on my machine and have links for various other software like kristal and things. I would like to know if anyone could tell me of some freeware virtual keyboards or something resembling reasons matrix sequencer. I've also got hammerhead drum machine but think it's pretty limited and wonder if there is anything with a bit more "oomph" to it. and if there is anything that can sequence wav files I would greatly appreciate a point in that direction.
I would look for these myself but a lot of the time you have to download and install things before you get any idea how the thing works, and I'm sure you can all apreciate I don't want a load of redundant crap on my machine.

I have downloaded a couple of freebee synths for the Mac (like the Cheeze Machine which is essentially a string machine).. There are some good ones out there which may or may not suit. Do a google search.. I got http://userpage.fu-berlin.de/~thman/VST/vst-allinstr.htm |
