Digidesign and M-Audio are pleased to participate as proud sponsors of Remix Hotel Los Angeles for three days of total technology immersion from November 4–6, 2005, at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood. Remix Hotel, in association with REMIX magazine, will feature music production panels, product demonstrations, celebrity presentations, electronic music performances, and music industry mingling at one of Los Angeles’ premier musical instruction facilities.
Visit Digidesign and M-Audio at Remix Hotel Los Angeles this year and experience a whole new level of creative power with the latest compositional tools in Digidesign® Pro Tools® 7 software. Daily hands-on demonstrations will feature Pro Tools LE™ 7 software on Pro Tools LE systems, including the all-new Mbox® 2, plus Pro Tools M-Powered™ 7 software with M-Audio® peripherals. Arrive early to sign up for a free Pro Tools 7 software training clinic, and be sure to catch special artist appearances and interviews.
On Saturday, November 5, from 5–6PM, two-time Grammy® award nominee Carmen Rizzo will be presenting a special demonstration featuring Pro Tools M-Powered 7 software. Carmen Rizzo is a solo artist, engineer, producer, remixer, and member of the world/electronic music project Niyaz. His new solo record Lost Art of the Idle Moment features collaborations with Esthero, Jem, Alpha, and Ladybug Mecca. He also engineered Coldplay’s smash hit “Speed of Sound” and has produced music for artists such as Paul Oakenfold, Seal, Supreme Beings of Leisure, and Grant Lee Phillips. As a world-class remixer, he has worked with Prince, Tiesto, BT, and the Cirque du Soleil.
On Sunday, November 6, from 3:30PM–4:30PM, noted LA session musician Justin Meldal-Johnsen will be demonstrating how Pro Tools enables him to work remotely with artists all over the country. Meldal-Johnsen plays bass in his own band, Virgin recording artist Ima Robot, and has contributed his bass playing to albums by Beck (for whom he also served as longtime musical director), Air, Tori Amos, Nelly Furtado, Black Eyed Peas, Scapegoat Wax, and many more. He has co-written songs with Macy Gray and Katy Rose and has remixed songs for Moby, Jamiroquai, and Linkin Park. He is currently producing a new album in Los Angeles for newcomer Holly Palmer.
In addition to bringing two of the most important figures in modern music to Remix Hotel Los Angeles, Digidesign will also be hosting interactive workshops featuring Digidesign’s own team of professional product specialists. Attendees who visit Digidesign at Remix Hotel Los Angeles will have hands-on exposure to Mbox 2, Digi 002 Rack™, and Digi 002® interfaces plus the Command|8® control surface. They will also have an opportunity to learn from the source the newest features for composing music with Pro Tools LE 7 software.
Remix Hotel Los Angeles will take place from November 4–6, 2005, at Musicians Institute, located at 6752 Hollywood Blvd. It begins on Friday, November 4 with a pre-registration event from 7PM–11PM and takes place on Saturday, November 5 from 12 noon–8PM and on Sunday, November 6 from 12 noon–5PM.
