Can anyone tell me whether Im wasting my time trying to make music on logic express on mac osx with only 512 mb of ram, would that cause the software to crash & quit unexpectedly ?
Brien

Installing and authorizing Logic Express 7
Before you install Logic Express 7, you should ensure that your Macintosh meets the minimum system requirements.

Hardware requirements

Power Mac G4

512 megabytes (MB) of random-access memory (RAM)
Software requirements

Logic Express 7 requires Mac OS X version 10.3 (or higher). It is recommended that you use the latest Mac OS X version available.

According to the install checklist you have the minimum so it should be OK, I'd look into that OS X version 10.3 or higher thang.

: :) yeah my software is all up to date & logic just seems to crash all the time fter i have got bout 6 or 7 sampes up it quits unexpecidly then all of sudden i can still go iton the project but canot display what i have done & it continues to quit, ive got al of that apart from my computor is a macbook g4 2.0ghz, 512mb, wasnt sure if 512mb was the reason it was struggling?
cheers dude

Probable not the memory.

You turn off EVERYTHING that needs processor time before recording or is it dedicated?
insomnio

its pretty dedicated i havnt done any recording really just composing my own synths and drum patterns so i cant quite understand
Brien

Ok, by dedicated I mean NO internet access existists or is being used while the recording software is running, No screensavers waitng to come on, ESPECIALLY NO Virus protection OR Firewall software...Nothing else is or will be running while the recording is taking place.

I assume you use the same system to record AND keep up with these forums...so it is not dedicated as of yet.

If I am wrong, sorry, but I do not know your environment except for the little bit you tell me.
insomnio

im not yet on the server i am relying on a connection every now & then & i do not run any form of virus protection or firwall software.

Logic Express has recently started to quit during loadup of one or two songs I'm working on.

I'm running 7.1.1 on a 900 MHZ G3 with 640 MB RAM in 10.4.8 It's always run really well, and still does with most tracks. I'm pushing 30 + tracks of audio and 8 or 9 .EXS instruments, plus effects. The tracks that are crashing Logic aren't even particularly busy or overloaded with audio at this point. Any ideas?
