View Original Thread: Need to convert some wma to mp3

Hadset

Hello,
How could I convert some wma to mp3? I have searched lately for an easy way to convert my wmas to mp3 but the ones I have tried were too hard for me, or I'm not good enough to use those kind of tools.
Can you please recommend some easy and good ways to convert wma to mp3, also which don't lose too much in quality?
Thank you a lot...:)
Terry

This freeware converter is about as simple as it gets.

Use a minimum bitrate of 128 kbps which is accepted as a good compromise between file size and quality.
You can select bitrates up to 320 kbps but unless you have a high fidelity speaker system the difference in sound quality might not be detectable.
(The higher the bitrate the better the quality).
Here's the how:
Go to File - Add files.
Choose to save in the same directory (tick box)or another of your choice (Output Path - click box at right) - I create a new folder.
Select output format - mp3.
Select - Format parameter (bitrate- click box at right).
As a guide these are my settings for my limited space laptop:
Sampling frequency - 44,100 Hz.
Stereo.
128 Kbit (kbps)
Encoder quality - 3.

Thanks, I'll give it a try, it seems to be a good soft as far as I saw on its website, but still I saw that this version isn't quite free, because in its shop it says that it free to try and I have to buy it and on the page you posted says that it's free. Do you actually use this soft? Is it free or not? Of course I don't mind if it's a paid soft but I wouldn't buy a soft just to convert some files...:)
Terry

Yes I use it and this version's completely free.
Just hit the blue download button.
The mp3 wma converter plus version is the one you pay for if you click the purchase link.

There are many ways to convert wma to mp3, I think that this is the easiest format to convert. Anyway, there are free tools which can convert wma to mp3 and there are paid tools which can convert wma to mp3, depends on your need. Usually the paid tools can convert other formats some of them you can't find in free tools. I for one use zamzar, it's an online converter and it should work with your wma too. :)

thanks for this info, I have already tried zamzar but it blocked at 18% and didn't go further on. So I quit using it and I'm still looking for a way to convert wma to mp3. Also I found that there are many audio and video converters which convert not only wma to mp3 but also other media formats. If possible to find a good one which could convert other formats too, for example, flv to mp3, it would be great. It could be a paid tool, I don't mind.
Thanks
Terry

Can't understand why you're still looking for a converter.
The Koyote Soft app I suggested works perfectly and is free if you take the time to read the site info properly.
I've been using it for years.

Well, I have downloaded it and indeed, it worked pretty well, I'm sorry for not answering, I have converted some of my files, even though at some of the files there were some repeated scenes after converting them, I don't know why.. Not at all of them, just at a few files and if I convert them again, then there are no repeated scenes anymore. Thant's why I don't know if I stick with it, because I have to check if all the files are converted properly and which aren't I have to start again.... :(

You can take a look at Tuneraft media converter. It converts audio files between most popular formats. http://www.tuneraft.com/
