Hey, I'm a new user, I just got into MIDI music, as I am making an indy game in a BASIC language, as you guys know, midi isn't too good quality, well if you have my synth/driver/whatever, so I want to boost my quality on my system which I can record .wav as the state on my computer so I won't have to worry about others having to have it....
Soo, what I am really looking for is a SOFTWARE SYTHESIZER, my biggest problem, the word is pure evil for finding what I need, I asked my regular forums and all I got was the one that comes with Final Fantasy VII the SYXG50v softsynth, yey woot! I got meself a softsynth, and the bloody thing isn't compatible with XP, so what I need is one of those things thats XP compatible, last time I ask for it, I got stuff like Rhinocerous, and VSD trackers, I don't want them, please.
Alternatively, if anyone knows of any okay/good and easy music making programs that records to wav/mp3 that would be awesome, something that has a GUI that works like Garageband or a midi app would be great

Finale 2004, has it's own softsynths which are pretty decent.
then you can save the file as a wav, or a (compressed wav).
The older versions of this software can't do this.
It ain't free either, so if you find a friend that has it - have fun.

thanks, I'll look into it, and see if I have any friends before asking them if they have it :D I might buy it when I get a new job if the price suits me :D (If not I would get an MP3 program instead :D) anyone else got anything?
