Hi,
I have recently upgraded my laptop's OS from Win 98 to Win 2000 Pro. I reloaded my Encore version 4.2.1 but when I try to open it, I get a message "The procedure entry point SMap_IP_EBP_12 could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll" Anyone know what I can do? Are there any solutions, patches or updates out there?

| i get the same message when i try and play command and conqure on win xp, the game was originally for win 95. |

Encore v. 4.2 works with Windows through v.ME, but not 2K or XP.
Encore v. 4.5 works with all Windows versions, will open files created with any version of Encore, but files created with 4.5 cannot be opened with earlier versions of Encore.
Also be aware that Finale, which purports to be able to import and convert Encore files, can only import files made with Encore versions earlier than 4.5, and cannot do so properly. The notes and lyrics and chord symbols import, but none of the repeats, coda stuff, etc., and the chord symbols are 'way out of line vertically.
Don't buy Finale solely on the basis that it can convert your Encore library.

Having used both Encore and Finale....there is no doubt in my mind which is superior...FINALE. I recently changed over and there is no going back. You are correct that the import of Encore is lacking, but the feature set that comes with the Finale product is much superior and I've never been able to get answers to any of the questions I've posed to the Encore support folks...except...buy the next version....
