does anyone know how to seperate the vocals from the instruments? please tell me if you do.

This question is an oldie but.... it keeps coming back.

Firstly, do you want to end up with only the vocals or only the music?

If you want to remove the vocals so that all you have is the music then there is no completely reliable way to do this apart from buying a Karaoke mix.

If you want an unreliable way of doing it with software then download and try something like AnalogX or YoGen vocal remover software - you'll find them here

If you want to remove the music and just end up with the vocals then check out this article http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/1077/
It explains a little bit more of the technical info on why both processes aren't reliable.
