I'm digitizing my collection of very old recording (some are 30 yrs old Smile However, all scratches and other damages are perfectely heard on the recorded MP3. Does anybody know a good and not very expersive way to get rid of them? I understand that there are manu very sophisticated (and expensive) editors on market, but since it is going to be a very narrow use for the sofware I would prefer some simple utility that can perform this task Smile

A friend told me about the program called Total Recorder that is capable of removing hiss and static. Does anyboady here have any experience with this application?

Alternatively you can try DePopper available here for a 30-day trial ($18 to buy):

I had an entire library of vinyl that DePopper cleaned of pops, hiss and scratches. And this was classical, which is fussy.
