Hi, i DJ quite regularly using Traktor DJ studio on my laptop. I have a Maya 44 sound card with 4 inputs and 4 outputs. It all works fine but the line level from my sound card is not as loud as the Turntables, it makes mixing between the two a hassle as you have to balance the levels on the mixers gains. I was wondering if there are any solutions such as preamps or sound cards that have adjustable gains (above 0dB) that might solve this problem?
cheers
Olly
ps, i have the sound card levels turned upto max and traktors levels to as high as possible without distorting. |

I am not familiar with the particular equipment that you mention, however, the level from a soundcard is generally a standard line level signal. The signal from a record deck is RIAA level which has to go through an RIAA preamp to match a line level signal. Of course there will be a slight variation in these signals and that is what the gain controls on your mixer are for ... to balance these levels.
The mixer you are using should also have faders (attenuators). The fader controls are what you should be using to mix the sound after having set the gain controls to the optimum levels. You should not have to mix using the gain controls.
If you are using a software mixer that doesn't have faders, then you would need to get a small preamp to boost the line level signal from the soundcard. Any line-level preamp or mixer will do. Realistic make a cheap 4 channel one.
