| When I hook up my stereo from my PC at the line output I don't get any bass or very little out of my subwoofer. All of the speaker conncetions are correct and the system works fine with cd's and fm. Any suggestions? |

I'm assuming that you mean when you play your stereo system on it's own, there aren't any problems with the bass.
Have you tried connecting any other components, like a tape deck, another cd player, or even a portable mp3 player to the system, and if so what where the results?
I suspect that somehow, [most often times by a faulty cable from pc to stereo], that your left and right channels from the computer have been merged together. When this happens in a stereo output signal, the bass often times gets "cancelled". Make sure your cable goes in to your soundcard properly. Unfortunately, some do not. I've had that problem before. |

In order to get sound into a seperate component a 1/8" stereo plug leading out of the sound card would be the start. This would be split, L/R and then you would have a left channel and a right channel individual wire. These would plug into the component one of several different ways. Either a clipped wire harness or RCA plugs would get the wires into the component.
Poor wire connections and skills to make these connections are almost always at fault. |

Then again, a sound card that has seperate left and right channel outputs like the M-Audio Audiophile 192 or the Audiophile 2496. Neither have the 1/8" stereo "walkman-esque" connections. They are a bit more expensive, but in my opinion, very much worth the price.
That of course would be an additional expense, plus installation of the card, drivers, etc.
Are your audio outputs right on your motherboard, or do you have a seperate souncard installed?
There are still a number of variables to troubleshoot/debug as to why there is "no bass". |

A 1/8" mini-connector.
Anyway, a new sound card is not going to correct the issue. The issue is most likely a loose nut on the keyboard :) |

| I had to poke around and started interconnecting different audio components in the late 60's/early 70's. Not being aware of impedance, levels and such until much later on, I'm surprised I didn't "fry" more things than I did . |

Many years ago I had the bright notion to convert a battery operated radio to electric.
So I hooked it up!
The radio made a loud noise, a puff of smoke and what sounded like a burping noise.
It never worked again and I never attempted that again either.
So I too have made idiot mistakes  |

 if such is the case. Back in the WIN9X days I ran a 1/8" stereo to 2 rca type cable connecting my SB 16/AWE32 soundcard in to my stereo with more than adequate results.  Yep, one of THOSE old SOUNDBLASTER cards. Pretty much everything I listened to music wise came from my computer. I still have music files I created on that old dinosaur of a system and they sound quite good on my current one.
