Cool Edit Pro 2.0 and sync issues

I am running Cool Edit Pro on Windows XP and for some reason I'm having some sync issues.

When I record track 1 everything seems to be fine.But when I record track 2 over track one and play it back it's usually fine for about the first 45-60 seconds and then it will start to become gradally off sync from the first track and eventually by the end of the song it's WAY off.
Since I'm running on a gig of RAM I don't think that's the problem and I've run Cool Edit on much slower processors than the one I am currently using.
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing and even wiping my harddrive clean and reinstalling everything and am still having sync issues.

Has anyone else experienced this issue with Cool Edit before?

Have you attempted to set the latency values?

Check this and see if it might correct your concern:

If your copy of *CEP2 is not legitimate, as in it is a cracked or bootleg version, chances are that that will have a detrimental effect on such things as latency.

Syntrillium, the software manufacturer of *CEP2, was bought out by Adobe in 2003. Adobe brought out "Adobe Audition" as the replacement for *CEP.

Heck man, it's cool edit pro...the chances are HIGH that it is cracked...but a cracked version is, in effect, a fully functional version.

This ain't MicroSoft we're talking about here :)...

I bumped up my sample rate to 64000 that seemed to fix the problem.I'm not sure why it was working fine at 44100 before but I'm happy it's functioning correctly again.

Most cracks are faulty in their illegal registration of software[s].

Hmmmmm, so I guess that would mean if I stole a Studebaker Hawk I'd be less of a car thief than if I stole a Lexus? Rolling Eyes

It is not my primary concern to wonder if or if not I am dealing with cracked software or stolen Internet access or hacked windows software, etc.

In order for me to make any helpful replies at all I assume no guilt from the poster. This post has not made reference to any theft, it is only implied but is, as of yet, not qualified as such.

You and I gain nothing by suggesting these things and do far more damage then good if it is.

If part of the problem may be the "stability" of the program, that is yet another symptom to be considered. I'm not making a judgement call here; I'm quite familiar with [and learned much about audio software from] the days of the RADIUM group.

Usually I figure there is a loose nut on the keyboard :) Anyone with such an old program prolly has little information, or rather, will not apply themselves to locate this often available information because they come from a rapid ready and available upbringing.
