Nearly every musician wants to become famous.
Most of them don't.
Been there, done that.
It's a tough business - v-e-e-ery tough!
I read an article which related to garage type bands
but I think would relate to vocalists too.
Of every 100 bands maybe 5 would stay together long
enough to record a cd. 1 or 2 might get their money back
and 1 might even make a profit.
Even the 5 who did the cd's only got there with lots of hard
work and dedication.
You seem to have the confidence and have something to aim for.
But.
This is the tough stuff.
Can you really sing?
Is this the opinion of yourself or friends and family?
Friends or family might not want to hurt your feelings but
most likely do not have any professional experience.
I would suggest you go to a vocal instructor and get their
opinion. If you do have the ability then some professional
training would be a big help.
The next step is experience.
Get into a band. Don't be put off if you get knocked back.
Ask them why. Their comments can help to find your weak spots,
be it timing, accuracy, personality, presentation, experience
or vocal ability.
Remember the band is looking for someone who fits.
Even the best musicians/vocalists might not be suitable for
that particular band.
I worked in a band for three years with a singer who was my best
mate but after that band broke up we tried him out with a new
band I was in but he just didn't suit so we had to say no.
It wasn't easy but he could see our point of view and accepted it.
We were still best mates.
You could start your own band if you have some muso friends.
Start from the ground up.
Be critical of what you do and look for ways to improve it.
Watch other bands or vocalists to see how they work - best done
live. Pick their faults, weaknesses and strengths.
Watch tv or videos to see how the pros do it.
By this I mean live concerts not MTV promos or top 100 whatever.
To finish off - never think you know everyting. Nobody does and those that do don't get anywhere. There is always something new to learn.
