The above link will take you to the developers of the software so you can get it upgraded there.
EDIT: As of 1/13/09 this link points to something other than this software. Just FYI. What is that Russian?

You have to change the properties of the program. Right clcik on the shortcut to Studio 4.0 and then on properties. When the window opens click on the compatibility tab. Set the compatibility to Windows 98/Millenium. Although Midisoft produced a fix to make Studio 4 compatible with Windows 98, do not install the 98 fix in XP.
I have found that some memory resident programs will interfere with the functioning of Studio 4 in XP. If this happens, you have to find out by elimination which program it is. It has never been any necessary process in my experience but always some non-essential memory resident program that causes the problem. Open task manager (right click on the taskbar) and close any processes that are non-essential one by one and then see if Studio 4 will work after each elimination. This has always worked for me.
I find Studio 4 invaluable because of its simplicity and the ease with which one can edit the midi file directly. I have SmartScore which I love but editing the midi file is not easy and unsatisfactory. Studio 4 is still the best in my opinion. Don't bother with later efditions of Studio. They are a waste of money in my opnion. 4 is much better than any of them. |

| I too purchased Studio 4 many years ago and loved it. However when I try to use it now, no matter if I am using Win98 or XP, it begins to open then closes immediately. Can anyone help me? |

Did anyone every find a solution to the midisoft studio 4 / Windows XP problem? I have gone as far as being a used laptop that runs windows 98, but it is very inconvenient. I have also looked at several other newer midi programs that match the functionality of midisoft studio 4, but I find that nothing else is a easy to use.
Note: I have already done everything recommend hear to no avail. |
