|hey hey, I'm a newly graduated Masters student in studio composition and production who has just opened a brand new studio in London which I would you guys to check out.
I have been running a small studio in my shed for the last three years and since finishing uni this summer, have decided to embark on the commercial life as a record producer. (tiny shed recording indie bands for near to nothing - it was crazy but I loved it!). I have set up the new studio in the Atomic music complex in New Cross and aim for it to be a sort of 'musical playground' for artists and bands to experiment within. There's loads of quirky instruments, and vintage bits and bobs learking around! I have always offered complementary mixing as I never like to send out an unfinished product. I'd rather the acts spend the time getting material down they are happy with, or trying out new arrangements/sounds, so I spend time polishing the tracks off separately and send it to them by email to check over. I always do a few print runs for them to check over but its always good to trust your engineer when it comes to levels!
Anyway, here's a bit of scripture about the studio:
We are a quirky commercial recording studio in sunny South East London with punchy Fender and dreamy Vox amps, vintage synths (Korg, Moog, Botempi), and outboard gear (tape, analogue compressors), high-spec industry microphones (AKG, Avatone, Neumann), a brand new custom made Mapex back-line, a range of musical bits-and-bobs to experiment with, and a strange device that boils water for tea or coffee. Big, punchy, professional sound!
Located one stop from London Bridge, (5 minute walk from South Bermondsey Rail, 12 minute walk from New Cross Gate), in a beautiful air conditioned complex with separated live room, chill-out lounge, kitchen, free parking, wifi, and plenty of places to eat in the local area.
£95/day. Flexible 9 hour day with an enthusiastic and experienced engineer (MA in studio composition and production), amp/kit hire, and free mixing after the recording session to get the tracks sounding tight and polished.
£140/evening. Record throughout the night and early morning at a time that suits you. Complimentary mixing and coffee supplied.
