I have an Ensoniq TS12 keyboard. I want to be able to record music and transfer it to my computer for easy transfer to CD or MP3 files.

I am out of the loop on modern technology. I think I will probably need a digital multitracker and another keyboard that has up to date sounds available. I cannot get good sounds or samples for my TS12. I am mainly interested in high quality strings, vocals and percussion. If I get another keyboard, I want it to be able to interface with my TS12, because I like the weighted keyboard of my TS12. I want excellent sounds and samples and an unlimited supply of these sounds. I don't need anything else fancy.

I wish I had more time to research all of what's out there, but I simply do not. I subscribed recently to Electronic Musician magazine, but it's too technical for my knowledge to have been helpful. Back in the early 90s, I was able to make and record plenty of music for my personal use without ever understanding most of what was discussed in Electronic Musician magazine. I don't want to get hard core into the technical aspects of this - I just want a reasonably priced keyboard with access to high quality sounds/samples.

I would appreciate it if someone could give me some general info on where we are right now, what kind of machine(s) I should look at, and if all sounds a person could want are all available on the internet now? If so, then any synth capable of accepting and playing what I can download on the internet would probably suffice.

Thank you. Smile

I am also in the same situation. I have a TS12 that I want to use to create my own songs and transfer to MP3 format. I have played in a band but not delved into the technical aspects of the TS12 yet (nice time to start doing this when my technology is out of date...lol). I have CakeWalk Home Studio 9 software which will (as I understand it) record my song/sequences in MP3 format to a CD. I am looking for high quality sounds (particularly vocals) that I can use with my TS12 or CakeWalk software to record my songs.
If anyone has any suggestions on where to get high quality samples or any suggested hardward/software configurations for use with the TS12 it would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Actually yes thre are a number of freeware programs that are more up to date than your existing keybourds but not to digress. Look the music industry is no different than any other industry whats already been invented is just getting reinvented. Today younger generatioins create music on thier home P.C.'s just like a large number of todays studios. Understand I'm not trying to get you to shy away from you old keybourd but the truth of the reality is, they don't manufacture keybourds like they used to now a day's keybourds have dik drives in them, just like computers, yeh who'da thought, and yes if your on the internet and you have a network of freinds you probably could exchange or file share, whatever they call it today trust me you can get anything these days if you know were to look including time! So, what my point is if your wiilling to get on your home P.C. to browse the net, what's wrong with using it to generate your music, I mean it is a central processing unit like your own brain, Rite? Look I'm seriosusly not trying to offend you but if you check out Cakewalk.com they have all sorts of software and updates for todays musicians including yesterdays instruments but they'll probably agrree with me when I say we could sure use some input yeasterdays musicicians, Keep up with the quest Smile
