I'll explain my setup.
The Directv box has a stereo pair out on the back. I plug from that into the audio in on the back of our entertainment/DVD box and we have great sound, stereo with a sub-woofer.
For your application you would need a stereo "Y" adapter. It should have two(2) female rca plugs and one male plug, peferably a 1/8 inch plug. You could then plug this 1/8 in male plug direct into your computer.
If you cannot locate a "y" adapter with a 1/8 inch male plugin, get what you can and use another adapter until you have the 1/8 inch male plugin.(THIS ASSUMES YOU HAVE A SIMPLE SOUND CARD.)
You will also need enough "rca" cable to feed from the Directv box to the 1/8 inch male plug in your computer.
Plug the "rca" cable into the left/right audio out of the directv box. This will plug into the Stereo "Y" adapter and the adapter plugs into the computer.
Turn your computer and the directv box OFF while working on it. When the time comes to turn on the computer, turn it on BEFORE the directv so you can adjust the computer volumne down LOW and bring it up until it is a good listening level.
It really should be a simple process...but the cables can wind up giving you some grief...otherwise, the Directv box is set up to send out the audio already...so you can record the MUSIC:)
CAUTION:
You use these instructions at your own risk. I do not know your technical abilities so I cannot say that this will work first time out. |
