I recently got a MBP 17". Very nice. I'm trying to figure out how to integrate it into my current system. I have a dual 867 and am only using GarageBand for the moment (I used to snub my nose at the program but it's fun and simple). I have a Mackie 1604VLZ and a sound card (M-Audio) and a small amount of outboard gear. I've used the old simple setup to do demos, remixes, etc. using Logic on a PC. My question is how do I get the new, spiffy MBP into the picture if I'm doing both Midi and audio (an equal amount of both)? Even with just a stereo I/O on the soundcard I get a pretty decent mix with vocals, gits and midi stuff. Should I bypass the mixer and dual 867 altogether and just try to work with the laptop by itself? What do I need to buy (that I can't actually afford right now) to get the laptop to be as functional as a desktop that will accept a soundcard, etc. I also run Final Cut Pro for video editing. Thanks.
