Software Description

Microsoft DirectX is a group of technologies designed to make Windows-based computers an ideal platform for running and displaying applications rich in multimedia elements such as full-color graphics, video, 3D animation, and rich audio. DirectX 9.0 includes security and performance updates, along with many new features across all technologies, which can be accessed by applications using the DirectX 9.0 APIs.

Madden 2001 and problems perhaps, with Direct X??

We have to tried to install and play the Madden 2001 game many times on my brother's Compaq PC.
Nothing has worked.When the game comes up, the graphics are distorted. The active user profile comes up but doesn't allow him to enter
his name. When we did the diagnostic check for DirectX and we were 'supposed' to see that both the sound card and video card driver were
certified. The diagnostic tool said no.

Neither my brother or myself have anyway to determine why they are not certified or how to repair it.

Any ideas??I'd appreciate hearing them.

There is a program to uninstall directx.
Go to www.cnet.com and search for DIRECTX8 UNINSTALL . A link will be there .
I`ve tested . It works .

it has to be removed manually. That is delete the direct x folder and remove the entries from the registry. then install direct x 6

If you go to c:\program files\directx\diag.exe
then click on the tab that shows the files directx uses and boot into safe mode and delete these files. If you get stuck, e-mail me and I will send you a batch file that will delete these files for you in safe mode command prompt only.

you cannot uninstall direct x 8

use the program system restore to restore your computer to before you installed direct x 8
System restore comes with most new versions of windows

Try This
1) Start RegEdit
2) Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/DirectX
3) Change the value 4.08.00.xxxx to 4.05.00.xxxx
4) Save your changes in the registration
5) Install DirectX 7a
