Software Description

MacCsound is an integrated development environment for creating and controlling Csound instruments and processes. It attempts to keep all the power and flexibility of the original UNIX program while incorporating the aesthetics and ease-of-use of a traditional Macintosh application.

MacCsound features include:

  • built in text editor with opcode syntax highlighting and formatting
  • WYSIWYG editor of graphic control and display objects
  • robust real-time audio with 32-bit multichannel coreaudio support
  • integrated project window that conveniently displays all files+options
  • sound file playback and support with user-programmed effects
  • quick-launch opcode reference lookup in web browser
  • a transparent interface to the csoundlib shared library

I downloaded what now appears on my MacBook Pro desktop as "MacCsound.1.0.2.sit". I can only open it as a text file in an alphabet that I do not recognize. How do I open the application? It looks like just what I need.
