Software Description

Audition for Windows is a full featured MIDI Sequencer written exclusively for Roland GS and Yamaha XG Synthesizers.

If you own a Roland GS Sound Canvas or Yamaha DB50 XG or SW60 XG sound card then you need this software to appreciate the sounds that your music hardware can offer. Audition simplifies the creation of Instrument patches by using simple slider and graphic controls. If you are new to making MIDI music then this is the sequencer for you

I think I want to install midi xg to better the music playback sound from my computer, but I am afraid to download something without knowing what I am downloading. This sounds like something maybe for someone who already has xg, which I din't think I do.

XG is a hardware thing, not software you install. You need a Yamaha soundcard like the SW60 XG or a sound module like the MU10, MU50, MU100, MU128 etc.
Look at http://xgmidi.wtal.de/ for XG information.
