Need help ripping audio cd's

i am running windows 2000 on my laptop computer. my problem is that i'm trying to rip my cd collection to my hard drive but the media player that i have doesn't have a tab to do so. please help because since i can't rip my cd's, i can't download to my mp3 player either.thanks for any and all help.
