Re: CDRWIN 4.0 could not found ASPI device

: : When I launch CDRWIN 4.0 on Windows 2000 Professional, I got error message "Unable to initialize ASPI manager". I also has EZ CD Creator installed and it worked well.

: Get the latest aspi32.dll and drop it into the CDRWIN directory. This will work flawlessly with Win2k. Win2k will not use the aspi32.dll inherently because of the Hardware Abstraction Layer.
: It's not MS(although I hate them as well), it's not CDRWIN/Golden Hawk Tech(their burning software is small and kicks ass)...it's the bastards at Adaptec who make the aspi.

Re: CDRWIN 4.0 could not found ASPI device

I have the same problem here. It works fine with Nero and EZ CD Creator 4.0. But with cdrwin, it doesnt' work. It used to work well in WinME but I changed to Win 2000 and now, I can't burn using CDRWin... ASPI problem.

I'm using a damn Matshita CW-7586... what a burner... lots of problem!

Anyone could help me out?

Re: CDRWIN 4.0 could not found ASPI device

I've got the same burner, never had a problem. but you know what they say in the tech support business.
.9% of problems are hardware
9% of problems are software
90% of problems are user-error.

it's all about knowing how to use what you have.
win2k doesn't have an ASPI manager by default. adaptec Easy CD Creator will install one though.

looking for another 3rd part ASPI manager though.

Re: CDRWIN 4.0 could not found ASPI device

your right, 90% are user error, if you dont know how to operate a computer, then DONT BUY ONE. If you read back a ways it tells you to put the aspi32.dll in the cdrwin folder.

Re: CDRWIN 4.0 could not found ASPI device

Your a faggot!

Re: CDRWIN 4.0 could not found ASPI device

You have to install an ASPI driver.

Re: CDRWIN 4.0 could not found ASPI device

I had the same trouble.
Just install cdrwin 3.8g, the version before 4.0a, and everything should be fine.

Re: CDRWIN 4.0 could not found ASPI device

Copy the WNASPI32.dll file from the Nero folder to the CDRWin folder. Works for W2K.

Find the FILE and SOLUTION here.

All you need to do is to put the WNASPI32.DLL file in your CDRWIN directory. You can download the file here: http://www.ahead.de/en/W2K.htm
I am running Windows 2000 and this worked great.

This work for me.

Under Windows NT/2000, we observed that the Aspi installer can easily get confused by some configurations, where the Aspi installer doesn't know where to create the ExcludeMiniports key and doesn't do its job. The consequence is that the ATAPI drives are locked out and don't appear in the list (that is, the locking out of the drives happens (1) if there is no key or (2) if the key exists and contains "ATAPI"). You should open RegEdit and create a "Parameters" key under Aspi32, then leave the Default key as undefined and create a key named ExcludeMiniports whose content is an empty string. ( This key cut be there already, then you just have to edit the key name ExcludeMiniports
You can do that for each of the control sets, but the control set which matters is the.....
Under Windows NT/2000, this string is under the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Services
Aspi32
Parameters

To correct this situation, you'll have to edit the registry. Launch RegEdit to access your Registry and search for the string "ExcludeMiniports".

Be very carful to do it right when you are in the Regedit.

Hope you got it.

Re: ANOTHER PROBLEM with CDRWIN 4.0 could not found ASPI device

CDRwin used to work for me, but then I installed Windows Media Player 7.0. This altered my ASPI settings and now it looks liek Micrsoft have fudged up my computer, surprise surprise...

Are there any fixes for this? 'elp! :(

Re: ANOTHER PROBLEM with CDRWIN 4.0 could not found ASPI device

NO DONT EDIT THE REGISTRY, some things are easier than jumpin in the registry, you dont sound any more professional because you know what the registry is. Go to start/run/add remove programs, go to the Windows Media Player 7, click add remove, it'll ask you if you want to remove the shared files or remove components, tell it to uninstall components, remove the adaptec cd burning plugin, then reinstall cdrwin

Re: ANOTHER PROBLEM with CDRWIN 4.0 could not found ASPI device

Sorry, had to reply.. I didn't have anything good to say, except, I can't imagine that someone could be considered a professional without knowing their way around the registry.. Any more than a SYSV Unix admin that doesn't know their way around the rc directories.. Silly statement.. The registry is just a grouping of .ini configuration files. for configuring things.. 'nuf sed...

cdrwin 3.8C on win 2000ME Help please ???

I have enough coasters to create a life size replica of the titanic!!!! prior to updating to 2000ME i was successfully burning with the Nero Software using win 98! I can burn mp3 files with no problems however the PSX I try to 'Back Up 'are only adding to a growing pile of coasters. I have attempted to use different drivers, alter settings. and general cursing and physical violence toward it, But nothing is helping. Why!!! My Pc is a HP 4422 (NO ASPI) the burner is a Diamond data recognised in cdrwin3.8c as 0.0.0 atapi 10x4x32 Disc Transporter Discmatic adt 1050, other relevent info relating to installed software is long and varied but mostly the standard programs such as ATI desktop, Mp3 to Wav Converter and others used for word processing along with a growing collection of mp3 files. Also when formatting a disc to drag and drop the excessive amount of MP3's to all works well until i attempt to reopen the cd I am given the message that the disc is not accessible Obviously this is rather distressing since it means i have lost a large portion of my music files. I use Ahead in Cd to FOrmat the cd/rw prior to Drag & Drop. (Do you think my PC knows i am Blonde and just does this to me 4 Laughs)?
