Software Description
Capstan is an audio restoration tool by Celemony that removes the wow and flutter from old recordings.
Before digital music - people resorted to using mechanical storage mediums that gradually degrade. These devices not only fail - but they also affect their precious cargo, music from the hey days of cassette, vinyl, wax and shellac. Mechanical degradation results in the familiar droning, dragging, wobbling and warbling effect on old audio materials. Many of these wow and flutter are considered unusable until Capstan came along.
Capstan is a program that can remove the wow and flutter from old recordings regardless of its hardware storage. It analyzes the music material itself and not the hardware. It can then detect wow and flutter along with speed variations which you can then easily edit or remove. It is based on Melodyne's DNA Direct Note Access technology. It is now very easy to work with old audio material - and Capstan guarantees to be free from unwanted artifacts.
