Software Description

CDex can extract the data directly from an Audio CD, which is generally called an Audio CD Ripper or a CDDA utility. Of course you can do that also by recording through your sound-card.

However, recording by sampling the signal with your sound card implies that the signal is first has to be converted to an analog signal by the CD-ROM, which is fed into the sound-card and digitized by the sound-card.

In practically all situation the quality of the recording will be deteriorated (unless you have a CD-ROM that has a digital output of course). CDex on the other hand, is reading the digital audio data directly from the disc, which can be stored in either a WAV file or a MPEG (MP2 or MP3) sound file.

After converting the cd to mp3 you get statur information, mostly it says "OK", but now and then it says something with an X, like "X1", or "X3". What does that mean, anyone knows? Have the latest 1.51

Presumably it's number of errors made during reading/encoding. But they've not documented this.

And there is a bug in this: Status doesn't get reset if you rerun again.
I've watched it runing with 0 errors, but status didn't change. It's stuck in the locall DB and you'd have to delete DB and reenter artist and track names, presumably...

I agree! It took almost ten seconds at only 200KB/s+. Terribly long wait.

You can''t install Adaptec ASAPI iff you are runing Nero burning software as the PC always crashes. You must unistal all Nero files first. I can mail you some old versions of Adaptec Win ASAPI files, don't install it with Nero Burning Rom sofware installed on your machine.

You can''t install Adaptec ASAPI iff you are runing Nero burning software as the PC always crashes. You must unistal all Nero files first. I can mail you some old versions of Adaptec Win ASAPI files, don't install it with Nero Burning Rom sofware installed on your machine.

i made an uninstall and re install the program to overcome the problem with out success :-(
