Installation: copy the driver, "cdwr" to "/boot/beos/system/add-ons/kernel/drivers",click on the funky app icon, and away you go. Pre- and Post- amble, with the occaisional Warning:

It has been a distinctly Joint effort, with sources bounced between us. But both of us are as busy as rats in a cheese factory, and the only way we'll get this baby pushed further is if people mail us with comments like: "Crumpet trashed my boot disk" or "Crumpet turned half a dozen blanks into so much bridge filler".

Much of crumpet has been garnered from a number of GPL sources. The adapted source code will be made available before the next release, after a bit of a tidyup (it's a bit of a patchwork at the moment), and in the form of a BeOS device driver (then you can write your own goddam burner software).

It has been tested only on a Yamaha CDR 400T, and only for audio data. However, it should work for many other devices.

For this beta release, take note of the following. * byte swapping is turned on by default. If your device doesn't do this (and the Yamaha is rare in this affliction!) you must turn it off by hand ("options" menu). * scsi device defaults to 6 (home setup).This must be set to the appropriate value in the "scsi device" menu (both of these problems should be handled automatically).
