Software Description

This package consists of a set of utilities to aid in guitar fretboard visualization and exploration. It started out as a basic set of Chord and Scale diagram generators (I did an initial release of these in an early form about a year and a half ago which required perl but also ran under Unix, see the Implementation details if you're really curious) and the project has grown from there. It is currently offered as copyrighted freeware, it doesn't cost anything (although I reserve the right to charge for it in the future or develop a commercial package based on it) but I do own the rights to the entire suite.

Here are the current base capabilities provided by the suite:

  • Generate Scale Diagrams
  • Generate Chord Diagrams
  • Determine Chord Names based on Fingering
  • Generate Arpeggio Diagrams
  • Determine Chords that fit into a given Key/Scale
  • Determine Scales that fit into a given Chord Progression

The tools all understand the same basic chord types and scale set (Currently knows 269 scales). The programs support a wide array of custom tunings. In the offhand chance that a scale or tuning is not known to the tools, the user can input completely custom scale patterns and tunings as described in this document.

HI This is to inform you that the download processing does not take place, it cuts off from the middle iam downloading from www.hitsquad.com and i have tried from your offical website as well. it does not proceed I did not have any problems downloading any other softwares, but does the speed matter, I am using a dialup 56kps speed.. please verify the zip file. I would really love to have this software Thankyou>>>>>

I try to stop by this area every once in a while (every few months) to check for comments, but I do not do so regularly.

i too am having problems with the chord generator. when it starts up, it's ok, but when i put a new queerie in, the chord box goes blank, and no new chord frets come up.
I had this program before i had to zap my hardrive, and the old one worked well, love the progam. Please help. Ian.

Sorry for the late response. As I said, please e-mail directly. I only check this board every few months. Off hand, it sounds like you need to do a reinstall. I'd guess grabbing the latest version and reinstalling it would fix the issue.

Your paths may be messed up: it sounds like it's not finding the subprogram to calculate finger positions for the chords to me. If you do reinstall, do a real uninstall and then make sure the directory is truly removed manually. Then install the new version.

On Wednesday I asked that maybe their could be lefthanded print out for us lefthanded guitarists out there. today is sunday, and I just got an email that this product now features lefthanded printouts. I have to say that this is some of the most impressive customer service out there.
