Software Description

MOD2MIDI takes as input a 15 or 31 sample MODfile, and, with data from the user, generates a type one MIDIfile, with six tracks and fourty-eight ticks per crotchet. In addition, it generates a settings file, to save the user information, and loads this file if the same MODfile is ever worked on again.

Once all the parameters have been specified, MOD2MIDI generates six temporary files in the directory where it is run from. Four are the four instrumental midi channels, one is the percussion midi channel, and one is the midi channel for tempo changes. These temporary files are used to save memory in favour of disk space, and they limit the speed of the program by the speed of the disk drive. It is best to run MOD2MIDI from a hard disk. MOD2MIDI runs through each pattern in the MODfile in the order in which they would be played and converts the information to midi data. As the MODfile is converted, the midi data is added to the appropriate files. Once all the patterns have been converted, the six files are copied, adding headers and tails, into a single MIDIfile. The temporary files are then deleted.

There are now several but none worth the try.
(i.e. WIDI,IntelliScore,...)

For classical music it might work but for pop music it simply doesn't work for drums,bass,etc...
as all channels are mapped to only one instrument

www.mp3-to-wave.com is pretty useful. however it only allows you to convert a certain number of songs. the best way to go is by using Winamp. DL winamp. go under options-preferences. then click on nullsoft disk writer plug in. then pick a folder to send your converted file to. then click play and it converts it. definitely the easiest way to go!

FOUND: Midi to Wave...and not the other way around.

I've tried this one and it works nicely! It's called MidiSyn.
(it doesn't include one, so if you need one, use the sound font already in your computer...it's an .sf2 file usually found in the Windows/system/ folder.)

Use WINGROOVE, it works great, and is easy to use, but the full version does cost. The free version only converts 30 sec. of the midi file.

Then get a key generator

To go to midi get cubase

Its all there for free if you know how to find it

Hello I am trying to convert my MIDI file to MOD file.

I read that I can use MODPLUG tracker, but had no success---WHY?? Do I still need to assign samples?? The converted MOD file would not play.

Can I use MIDI2MOD on Windows 98???
