Is there any1 who knows how, or knows of software available that can unlock protected WMA files so that they can be converted to mp3's?? Question I want to add the files to my iTunes library. Any help would be most appreciated.

Just get Audacity recording software, open the WMA file in it and click "export as mp3".

Audacity won't open WMA files, so I don't understand what you mean.

Hey Guys,

Okay, so a guy at work gave me a thumb drive with some music (14 files) in a WMA format to burn to a cd.

When i tried putting them into nero to burn them it was saying that i needed a licence to do so.

I tried to comvert them into MP3 using Itunes and i still wouldnt work.

Then i got a music converter called Switch Sound File Converter which still didnt want to work.

The only other way i've seen how to do this from previous posts is record the music using a recording program and then save it as an MP3 and this should get around the copyrighting issues.

There are only 2 probs with this. 1. Windows media player wont even play the files and 2 i dont have sound on my work computer.

Is there any other way of getting around this copyrighting issue besides getting the original CD's and importing them?

Hi alibee,
You will definitely need the license for those files, without it u can't do anything with them. After getting the license, then u can play them back and use a converter to convert them into mp3s. I would recommend tunebite for converting, use it for a long time, it converts all the formats u need, but again u need the files' license.
Good luck!!! Wink

I suggest you to use TuneRaft media converter. It can remove drm protection and convert your files between most popular formats.
It is easy to use and does its job well.
You can download and try it for free:

For me Convert-tune is the best software for different players (ipod, ipad, zune).

It runs on Windows 2003, XP, 7, Vista and adds ID3 tags.
