Not Plugging Into The Mac App Store

Mac App Store

The Apple Mac has long been a computer chosen by musicians at a higher rate than by the average person. There have been many reasons for this, it's early adoption of MIDI, it's ease of use, simplicity, and the clear sense that the people at Apple understand creativity.

But now it seems that their recently announced Mac App Store for Snow Leopard may be turning away a little from serious musicians, and it all comes down to them banning plug-ins from the store.

We've had a bit of a chat about this here in the Hitsquad office, and the best we could come up with is that the fact they are disallowing plugins, but allowing hosts, is perhaps to keep things simple. A more sinister idea may be because they simply don't want JAVA apps which by their very nature are highly portable and will run on any JAVA machine - not just a Mac.

But who knows?
