What's interesting about the RBN 112 powered speaker is the use of 120mm Ribbon HF drivers, which are known for clarity and detail but usually only used on Studio monitors. Peavey has developed a way to utilize them in a bigger and louder setting for live performance use, as such bringing with it the same clarity needed in the studio, while having enough projection and volume as other conventional tweeters. Peavey also utilized a low-coloration wave-guide design to ensure clarity.

Complementing the Ribbon HF Driver for the RBN 112 speaker are dual voice coil neodymium Scorpion speakers, which features convenient field replaceable basket technology. The two drivers are driven by a 1500 Watt bi-amplifier that comes with 9-band EQ control and program presets. Other features include digital infrasonic high-pass filters, delay, bass enhancement, automatic off and compressor limiter for each outputs. For positioning, the cabinet has side and top handles, multiple side and top fly points, all packed in an ultra-braced molded enclosure. Peavey provided the dimensions for the RBN 112: 24” tall, 14.07” wide, 14.07” deep and weighs 39 pounds.

The RBN 215 powered subwoofer can maintain full output power down to 36Hz, with a peak power of 2,000 Watts - designed to complement the features and looks of other RBN Series speakers. It houses two 15" woofers that provide enough low-end for medium to big venues, all of which are housed in what they describe as an "ultra-braced" 18mm birch plywood cabinet assembly. And being from Peavey, this subwoofer is meant for years of consistent and reliable performance, with its heavy-duty locking casters and heavy-duty steel perforated grille. Other features include ground lift and the positioning flexibility of having this powered subwoofer pole mounted. Detailed specifications include being 32.88” tall, 22.07” wide, 24.75” deep and weighing in at 125 pounds.

Peavey COO Courtland Gray concludes, "Reliability is key when selecting a powered enclosure. RBN enclosures feature an internal temperature monitor combined with a variable speed cooling fan, plus level and clip indication to ensure optimal performance. The setup wizard makes the speaker system completely user-friendly with internal presets built into the DSP, allowing users to quickly select the speaker’s application or orientation via the LCD on the rear of the enclosure next to the power amp VU meter.”

The retail price for the Peavey RBN 112 os$1,499.99, while the RBN 215 is expected to retail for $1,999.99. For more information, you can headover to Peavey.
