Hi!
Somehow the printer port cable of my pmp 300 seems to be broken. So I cannot load any new songs into the player.But I have a 32MB SmartMedia Card and a USB SmartMedia Reader/Writer.Are there any programs that can format the Smartmedia and copy songs onto it so it can be used in the PMP 300?
This would be great especially since the usb writer is _much_ faster than using the parallelport cable...

For all you owners of RIO 300, don't download all these alternative programs. Some of them transfer the songs with errors (the music skips), and some just simply crash the player. So far I've been fortunate that initializing the device took care of this problem. I may not be so lucky next time. So, if I were you, I'd stick to the Rio Manager (not AudioPort, nor MusicMatch). Just the good ol' Rio Manager. It doesn't rip mp3s and it doesn't convert bitrates, but there's plenty of free software available for download that do it. The Rio Manager may not be as cool-looking as the RealOne software, which by the way I never got to work with my player, BUT IT DOES THE JOB. Only if you don't get the RioManager to work on Windows XP, should you try using RIOsitude. As for the uploading feature of some of these programs (eg MP3MAN, RIOsitude), I really don't miss it. If I wanna transfer a large file somewhere, I'll either use a CDRW, CDR or a ZIP. No chance you'd see me carrying the RIO cable and LPT1 adapter around just be able to transfer files to another computer. Where's the portability in that?

rio500 skipping songs

I have a Rio 500. I have never had a problem with it, except now it is skipping over one particular song. It transfers to my database, and even shows all kb's being sent to the player, but the player shows 9 kb's. I dont' know what to do.

I was the first person ever in my area to have a MP3 player back in 1999. People didnt even know what mp3s were. Anyway I always wished that I could find a larger card for it because it still works, just not enough music. Well I ran across this on EBAY. Dont know if it works but if someone trys it let me know...

I had the same problem until I downloaded dbpoweramp by Sveta. I had heard bad reviews about this program and didn't expect it to work. First of all I downloaded the pmp300 specific driver (it's about 250kb) and ran it. Next I downloaded the main program (about 2.2mb) and ran the install program.The program allows you to add devices thro' a simple procedure and it even found the driver that I had installed! Once plugged in it becomes a simple drag and drop process to put music on the player.Remember to tell Windows Media Player to rip music to MP3 format as the pmp300 can't play wav's or wmv's!!
