Interesting solution Ravi. But this method has the flaw that it doesnt work with the new RTSP protocol. Because neither Getright/Go Zilla can talk to the server with this protocol. Forget the HTML browsers. You cannot store them to your disk. Any ideas as to where Real Player or Windows temp store the streamed files will be good info....

RTSP is pretty much being used by Microsoft and Real Networks for their Streaming Multimedia Files.

As far as the .ram file hacking to get the actual location, a free binary file viewer like FrHeD available at

http://www.tu-darmstadt.de/~rkibria

can be used to read the contents of the .ram file to obtain the actual location.

I am looking for people who are willing to help me build a RTSP Client which can talk with the server and download the files to my computer.

: There is no necessity for capturing a streaming real video (.rm) file. Suppose you have a link : http://www.someurl.com/somefolder/somefile.rm
: you can downlaod the somefile.rm directly to your harddisk and it can work offline aslo. You can use download utilities like getright or DAP for downloading them, but the same may not hold good for a .ram file

: If your ram file, holds the playlist information of various .rm files it would be difficult for you to get the link of the rm file that has to be downlaoded, in that case do the following :
: run the .ram file. While the file is running, remove the modem inline or the network cable inline from your pc. The streaming will stop and real player will give you an error message and that error message will have the link of the clip (.rm file). Grab that link and get connected to internet and download it using a download manager.
