Prophet 12 Module Synthesizer

After releasing the polyphonic synthesizer Prophet 12 keyboard, Dave Smith Instruments introduce a space-saving module version.

Prophet 12 Module

The Prophet 12 Module bring the same sound synthesis technology as used on the keyboard version, albeit in a compact table-top form factor that is easier to integrate into your existing synthesizer setup.

This release is in response to the many requests that they have been getting from musicians that are looking for a small and portable version of the Prophet 12 keyboard. This module carries the same twelve-voice hybrid digital/analog synth, one that Dave Smith himself declares as his "best synth yet".

Smith says "The new Prophet 12 module is just that: it has all the power of the Prophet 12 keyboard — in fact, it has the exact same voice board — and it fits into a backpack."

To maximize the small front control area, DSI utilized a unique interface that requires less knobs but can still provide control for all the important parameters. The designer comments: "People like small these days. Many musicians also have more than enough keyboards, or simply don’t use keyboards. The Prophet 12 module offers a sleek design that still gives you easy and incredibly fast and intuitive control over all parameters."

Like its keyboard counterpart, the Prophet 12 Module features four oscillators, a sub-oscillator, low-pass/high-pass filters and a voltage controlled amplifier. Other features include four-tap stereo delay, expanded arpeggiator, feedback path and modulation effects.

Although the Prophet 12 Module is smaller, it does have the same back panel input/output options as the keyboard version. This includes headphones, main/A Outputs, B Outputs, MIDI Thru, MIDI Out, MIDI In, Pedal 1, Pedal 2, Sustain, and USB connectivity.

Pricing information will soon be available, you can visit the new David Smith Instruments for more information. The Prophet 12 Module is expected to hit the stores some time in 2014.
