Finally, WIN2K PMP300 software.

I found this forum searching for support for Windows 2000 for the 300 (which is now really cheap). The only solution which worked was Dreaming of Brazil. I found it here:

http://www.parkverbot.org/harald/download/

RioShell worked alright, but had problems "initializing" the internal 32MB card - the Rio freaked a lot on the tracks there. No problems with it on the 32MB SmartMedia card I added.

I hope everyone finds it useful ...

This Worked for me!

Goto www.audible.com

On the home page you will see a menu on the right. Click on: Download Software To Listen.

Plug in the rio and turn it on.

On the next page Check - Download AudibleManager 3.1.1* (370k)
and then download.

Choose Run this program and it will open up...

As this installs it should ask you if you have a device you want to install. Choose the Rio 500 as the device.

After the install reboot and check to see if the rio works. If not continue

make sure rio is plugged in and turned on. Goto the system menu and click on the rio 500 and choose reinstall driver.

When it asks for a location choose 'C:/windows' and then click ok.

This should work and once you verify the rio works you can uninstall the audible manager.

This should work if done right. Mine works now with this method. If it still doesn't work let me know and I will check into this. These directions assume you have some PC skills. If you don't know how to access the system menu or other parts let me know. Also, if you need further assistance try me on AIM at 'thexian' or 'i8asquid'.

No, try THIS. HERE ARE THE DRIVERS.

http://www.hastec.nl/drivers/rio/rio500/rio500.htm

Re: TRY THIS!!!!!!!

I followed Frank's suggestion above and it worked great.

Just remember to re-boot right after the Audible installation completes. Audible will try to look for your player right away, and in my case it couldn't find the Rio immediately. But after the re-boot it worked great. I didn't even have to do the last part about reinstalling the driver - it worked right away.

Thanks!

Ray,

I'm told by Diamond that the largest expansion card supported is 32MB.

I'm searching around right now for some information to confirm or deny that, but your question seems to confirm it.

Sucks. Stupid companies make such stupid products. I bought a RIO 300 and never use it because what good does it do to store only 5 or 6 songs?

: Ray,

The official RIO's web site says upto 160MB that means it should recognize upto 128MB Smart Card.

There may be something wrong.

Re: WIndows 2000 &RIO PMP300 drivers

I tried the Musicmatch steps from Paul's posting. It "seemed" to work fine, but when I go to "download to my device" no info shows up about my PMP 300, and the download button is greyed out.
I'm off to try the "Brazil" software.

Rio pmp300 external memory

I bought a 32mb Sandisk SmartMedia memory card for my player. everything seems fine. I can download to both the internal 32mb and external 32mb but the problem is that I am not able to play the songs on the external card. Anybody have any info for this one.

Thanks in advance

Re: Rio pmp300 external memory

Well, having just bought a 32MB SmartMedia memory card I experienced the same problem with my stone-age version of the Rio Manager. By downloading the latest Rioport Audio Manager software version 3.2 (not 3.3 !) at www.rioport.com the problem was instantly solved!
I wonder if this works with a 64MB card as well.

Re: Rio pmp300 external memory

Yeah, the RIO PMP300 can only address a MAXIMUM of 64mb of memory. The OS on the device only has the ability to see 64mb. That's the 32 built in to the RIO and an additional 32 as a card. I purchased a SanDisk 32mb at the locak Costco/Price club for about $40 and it works like a charm. No problems!

Rio 300 and Smartmedia 32MB

My Rio recognizes an Olympus brand 32MB Smartmedia card, but when i try to format the card on my Olympus c-2100uz it says "format error". I've heard the rio 300 formats the card in its own way. I've also heard there is a program to reset the smartmedia to its original format.
Anybody can please tell me where can i download this software?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks :O)

I've heard of a program called "Dreaming of Brazil" or something like that. That program claims to be able to reformat flash cards, plus it also allows you to download songs to your rio. I'm not sure where I found the program, but just do a search for it online.

I purchased a ZIO! (around $25) SmartMedia Reader/Writer so that I could download pictures from my camera. I found that it allows you to reformat the card after you have formatted it for the Rio player so that the camera can recognize the card again.
