Software Description

dBpowerAMP Music Converter (dMC), is one of those must have utilities, indispensable for converting audio files from one format to another. Part of dMC's formidable arsenal, is it's ability to rip music straight from Audio CDs! [optional install], or LPs. Formally known as Shuffler Music Converter, dMC continues where Shuffler left off.

Straight out of the box dMC can convert [from & to] WAV and MP3 files. Download options bring Windows Media Audio (WMA V7), CD Audio (CDA), Ogg Vorbis and many more file types to the table. Volume Normalization, ID Tag preservation, scriptable and the simplest way of converting (right click on a file and select Convert To), round of a perfect package. What's more dMC is free.

The free version does everything I want and need (rip CDs, convert to / from just about any format), the paid for add-on does just that: adds extra features.

Sorry, but there's no "quick" about it! However, it is easy, so listen up:
1) Go to Radio Shack. Buy 1/8" male to 1/8" male plug in (~$4).
2) Plug one end into "LINE IN" on computer.
3) Plug other end into "HEADPHONES" jack on tape player.
4) Download "AUDACITY.exe" from the web.
5) Install and open Audacity. Press PLAY on your tape player, and then immediately click on the RECORD button in Audacity.
6) When your tape ends (or song or whatever), click STOP in Audacity. Otherwise, you'll end up recording 50 hours of nothing!
7) In Audacity, choose "EXPORT AS WAV." Then, watch the fun.
8) Close Audacity.
9) Open your encoder/conversion software, and convert the wav to mp3.
10) Voila! Good luck, and happy hunting...
