Funny, I remember a time when people were asking, Does the PC have any multitrack software.
Anywhoo, Try ProTools, Cubase VST, and perhaps Cool Edit Pro, or Cakewalk. I doubt the latter
two have been ported to Mac. Anywhoo, Mac's still rule the audio scene. I am envious
of you!

Only one I know is sound forge xpress or sound forge You can get a demo version/trial at address below in case here it is again http://www.sonicfoundry.com/download/Step2.asp?DID=287

fortunately I already got a copy with sound blaster live experience sound card/software. Soundforge xpress 4.0 so it cost me nothing but you can try the trail it works. Youre welcome. There maybe a crack for it but that is not up to me is up to you to find. U have enough info...good luck.

If you'r trying to end up with the MP3 format as the finished product, wav files can be converterd very easly using music match jukebox..not sure if this is the info your looking for..peace!!

imho, it's AWESOME for file conversions... it supports like 100 different formats or something.

May I be helped in getting a .wav file from a .au file. I have tried awave 5.3 but the au format it supports is different from the au format of the files I have(downloaded from the net). The file property tells that the type is Sound Clip (Basic).In awave 5.3 the .au type is Sundec.

I shall be greatly thankful to anyone who can help me out at the earliest. thanks for the same.

Win amp has a plug in that lets you play .au files and if you have there .wav outputter (it's included in the program) then you can convert it. winamp converts alot of files to .wav

I just tried WWW.GOLDWAVE.COM, and it worked on a windows 2000 operating system...hope that helps.

Mixing software.. ( vocals & midi )

I am looking for software that will allow me to mix Midi and vocals without it going to disk. All the software I have found so far automatically records to a .wav file. I need it to just mix to the speakers or line out with some effects such as : reverb, noise gate, limiter....... as I want to mix direct to tape. Any ideas????? Sure could use the help. Thanks...

cut a CD into tracks without putting a pause between songs. This is for a continuous mix.

I guess I'm not sure what you want to do. It sounds like you just want to mix midi with your live vocals. If this is the case just use your line out from sound card into a mixer or multitrack and through your effects loop and go for it. If I were you I'd use a midi/audio sequencer such as cakewalk or less expensive powertracks pro and record your vocals along with midi, leaving midi unrecorded. To do this just go to your soudcard mixer and disable your midi record. In powertracks your can record midi mixer settings so your midi music will be pre-mixed. I hope this helps.
