: AND: do you know where to get directx pluggins for it? For some reason their site won't let me search for them. For some reason their site says that I don't have directx version 5.2 or higher, which is a total crock, because I know for a fact that I have 6.1...I even downloaded it twice just for their sake. What's worse, they won't even let me LOOK at the plugins because of it. DAMN...*pulling my hair*

MPC 2000 XL BUY or not to BUY

Wan't some advice

Re: MPC 2000 XL BUY or not to BUY

Yes, I recently purchased an Mpc 2000 Xl and I was wondering if anyone is familar with the sampling technique on there( sampling time, trimming, and looping)? Also I wanted to know if anyone has any information on getting free floppy disk downloads from the internet. I love the machine but it's hard for me to get it to do what I want. Thank you

Re: MPC 2000 XL BUY or not to BUY

: Wan't some advice

Dude get it.Its 16 bit so Its no freaking race horse but it gets the job done.If you are into beat boxes.I mean with computers you can get either a 64 bit (pc clone) or 128 bit (mac)
that can do all that a mpc can even better or faster. If you ask me the be gone for good in like 10 years CUZZ THERE SO DAM SLOW.But sure looks good when ya wanna show off to chicks>>(:
Base your decision on your budget I mean compared to a mac an mpc is pretty cheap so you take the good with the bad

Best software mixer for CD/MP3/WAV

What would be the best program to mix together CD-Audio, MP3 and WAV on the PC. As only one of my 3 CD drives is connected with an audio cable it would be good if it could also support realtime CDDA extraction.
Thanks...

Re: Best software mixer for CD/MP3/WAV

Can someone help me find the lyrics to the old gospel song "I Shall Not Be Moved"?

Re: Best software mixer for CD/MP3/WAV

Vitrtual Turntables is the best of the lot.
Visiosonics DJ1200sl is fine also, but way overpriced and a little uninspired.

d-lusions new prog was very disappointing (no 2 card support). BPM STudio is loaded, but again - priced with the big boys and no real advantedge over VTT.

GMixon's setup is a total professional setup (the ability to mix thru graphs is way cool, but.........pricey.

Fruity has something coming out, but not for awile

I use VTT on a modest system and can mix/record without any skipping/freezing.

Creative Labs Sound Cards

I had the sound blaster live audio card and in a lot of ways it's a great card except one. I stream a radio show on the internet and am not able to cue a CD and talk on the mic at the same time. Does anyone have a solution.

2nd Question:
Regarding the PCI-128 Card:
Is there a music mixer program that can be used on a live stream to add effects to music?

Re: Best software mixer for CD/MP3/WAV

Hello

Could you give me some of the specs on the program and some of the reasons that you think that it is the best program. I am currently looking for a mixer program that will let me take music from one song and the vocals from another and add them for a mix. Could you maybe point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Timothy

Someone who uses cubase on Mac!

could you please tell why my cubase keeps saying there isn't enough memory to run audio engine. im running on a g3 laptop 333mhz.all the funtions are working but as soon as i load and effect the scroll bar thing stops playing and the program nolonger functions.

email me bj303@hotmail.com

thanks if you send mail.

Re: Someone who uses cubase on Mac!

Try allocating more ram to the program. Click the program icon once to select it. Then go to the file menu and select get info, then memory. Try giving at least 32megs. I hope I'm not insulting you by giving this advice, but this looks like the obvious thing. The other thing I would try is increasing the track buffer in Audio system setup. I've been using Cubase for years now, with pro tools and an O2R. I learned things because some people were kind enough to share what they knew, so if there is any way I can return the favor, please let me know!

Re: Someone who uses cubase on Mac!

What version of cubase are you using

Call me new, but (question)

What does "dither" mean?

GOOD QUESTION NOW THAT YOU HAVE BROUGHT IT UP=)

Re: Call me new, but (question)

: : What does "dither" mean?

: GOOD QUESTION NOW THAT YOU HAVE BROUGHT IT UP=)

Well, as I understand it........."dither" means to "tweek" "sweeten" or"edit"
audio files........as in the mastering process. You know, a little compression here,
a little EQ there.

Hello Lynn,

We have a program called "MidiNotate" which will convert MIDI to sheet music.
You can download it at <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/MidiNotate/">http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/MidiNotate/</a>.

Unfortunately you can't convert MP3 to sheet music - this is the same problem
as converting MP3 or WAV files to MIDI - we have an excellent tutorial on this
subject at <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/9903_101/">http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/9903_101/</a>

I hope this helps,
Jason.

my own piano solo transcriptions

Does anybody else out there besides myself print out their own piano solo transcriptions of film & TV themes
composed by such composers as; Ennio Morricone; John
Barry & Jerry Goldsmith? If you do, then let's trade?
Feel free to contact me at django42@aol.com

Re: my own piano solo transcriptions

My name is Davide, 31 years old and I live In Milan (Italy) where I teach in a High School.
I wish I could receive the piano score of 'Out here on my own', a famous song form the film 'Fame' by Alan Parker.
As it is very difficult, I daresay impossible, to find it in Italy, I wonder what I have to do to get the piano score!
Thanks very much!
Let me hear from you!

questions about PLUG-INS

An ORGANIZER: is there some way to see everything you have (DX and VST) organize a bit?

Why don't all DirX plugs work with Cool Edit? should they be in a particular folder or something? this is a big one.. . . with all the plugs i have, only maxxbass, cw, and cfx show up.

and.. here's some url's for free plugs, it'd be cool to get a link sharing thing going i think (or is there a good site with links?)

Hmmm....

What you need is recording software. Any decent multi-track recorder should do the trick. My problem is more in connections than software. You need a cord to run from either your stereo's aux output or headphone output to the mic or line input on the computer. Then you just record it realtime. The multi-track will record it as a wave. It may not SAY .wav, many programs have their own file extensions so they can recognise their own projects, but if you change that extension to .wav, it should work (that's the way I do it, anyway). Once it's in the computere as a wav, you can convert it however you want. I haven't worked with the other formats you mentioned, but to encode to mp3, I like to use Audioactive Production Studio.
Oh, yeah...if you don't have a multi-track, your computer should have come with some sort of wave recording software. It's probably not quite as good, but it should do.

Many DAW 's but any like Microsound ?

Hi,
I'm looking for a multi-track or virtualtrack's software mainly for music recording, editing and mastering.'Micro-editor'by Microsound (MTU)seems to take the cake as far as editng is concerned, despite other software limitations. The ease of working with a toggled waveform/segment(rectangular non waveform box- microsound users will know)view, beats all other softwares I've come across.I would have opted for the Microsound, but for its cost! Also their software works only with their card. I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions about softwares that use similiar methods
of displaying audio.
Also, has anybody used the 'LynxOne'card?.Seems to have great specs.

Thanks.

I need drum set notation software! PLEASE

Can someone recommend a program that will simply compose drum set notation and print it. Audio output would be a plus but not crucial. I will not spend hundreds of dollars for overpriced, overly complex notation software. Keep it simple.

I've done a little mix of a tune and I want to lay the original vocz on top of it... is that even possible? if so, feel free to mail me explaining how or what program(s) to use.

Thank You.

Re: Is it possible to "lift" vocals from a track? ...remove al

Yes, sort of. If the vocal was recorded "straight up the middle" you can reverse the phase on one chanel, and anything in the middle will be canceled. Record this, then reverse the phase of the same track again to regain the stereo image. You will loose some audio material, but for the most part it will be untouched. Hope this helps..
