I need a studio for my PC

Hi,

I've got a portable PC with windows 98.
I would like a software that allows the following:
- retrieve WAV files from a CD / mike / my guitar
- generate drums / bass lines and simple scratches
- add effects and mix the different tracks
- playback the result
i.e. A simple studio kit for my PC.
Does such a software exist?

Jerome

Re: I need a studio for my PC

Hello Jerome,

That's a big question to answer, but I'll assume you want to start off using freeware and shareware. Check out these programs:

Multi-track recording: <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/n-Track_studio/">n-Track Studio 1.3.3 for Windows 95/98/NT</a>

Audio editor: <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_Win32/">Cool Edit 96</a>

Drum sequencer: <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/HammerHead_Rhythm_Station/">HammerHead Rhythm Station</a>

Bass sequencer: <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/RubberDuck/">RubberDuck H30+ V2.0</a>

But this is only one combination out of 1000s. Take a look around the site and experiment with software. It's your best way of finding what suits you.

Cheers
Geoff

Help? Got a CD+G question.

A guy at my job has some CD+G discs he brought home from Europe. Is there any (hopefully download-able) software that will enable him to play back the video along with the audio on his PC? Thanks!

software for composition

Dear all,

I have a keyboard, a electic guitar, a electric bass,
a computer. All I want to do is to compose my own song
by using this equipment only!

Any software you guys can recommend to me? I am a beginner
in music composition.

Thanks!!

Kenchi

Re: software for composition

Hi

is it the actual meloiy you want to compose - or the whole arrangement?

If it's the latter, there's plenty of sequencers and sound design software out there for you. Any download page will give you demo's so you have a no risk wty of researching those.

in one school the melody is king. If it's melody you want help composing the bad news is there's nothing out there. The good news is that from October 31 on I'll be able to help you with melody. How?

Send me your melody as a midi file and I'll send you back as many variations as you want based only on your idea. The service is TuneCatcher.

When the melody'd written it's then only a matter of dressing it up!

The service will be called TuneCatcher™.

Have fun.

It can't be done - to understand why you should read the following simple explanations:
