can i use my ibook keyboard as a midi keyboard

does anyone know of a program that will allow me to use my computer keyboard as a midi keyboard, this does'nt have to be all singing all dancing or anything, just so i can put riffs in by hand instead of programming everything. i dont have enough bucks to get a midi interface just yet, and i heve an applemac ibook, which i'd like to take out in the bush(i'm in australia) to power from a solar panel, so portability and as limited pieces of equipment as possible is important in this paticular set-up.

Re: can i use my ibook keyboard as a midi keyboard

I've never really looked into it, but I have come across a program called Sweet Little Piano (http://www.ronimusic.com/download.htm), which turns you computer keyboard into a musical one. But I don't think it is possible to record using this application. :(

I actually would not mind something like this. I like to make MIDI music and using my computer keyboard would be great, cause I don't have a musical one.

I actually might look into programming my own software to do this, I actually don't think it would be too hard to do. I may look into this when I get time.

Relay KB will let you control MIDI functions and/or enter notes thru your keyboard.

Re: Midi Problems

Try selecting your souncards Midi out rather than the sounds from the card itself in your midi menu.

Re: Midi Problems

You could also take the audio output from your soundcard into the RCA input jacks of the NS5R. This will combine the two via the outputs on the NS5R.

scanning

I want to scan sheet music into Musictime to make changes to it. I have read both scanner and musictime directions but can't figure it out. Any suggestions?

Re: scanning

Try www.musitek.com . But beware, usually you don't save
any time because up to now, no software can read an avarage
music text with an acceptable error rate.

HELP HELP HELP !!! How do I get CD-RW's to play in CD players? W

I've tried to copy music and play the cd's in my cd players and it never works because it doesn't read it but my CD rom does. I use Adaptec Easy CD Creator . Is there any software program that is proven to play CD-RW in a cd player after being burned ? If so , what is it and where can I get it ? Also , What kind of brand is the best CD-r and CD-RW for playing in CD players ? ( I have a Smart and Friendly CD Racer and have only tried S&F CD-RW's and Samsung CD-RW's )

As far as I know this technology is not out yet. You need to use CD-R disks.

Hi
CD rewritable disks do ususally never work with audio cd players and low quality CD rom drives. Unfortunately this is a fact of life and no software program can change it. If you use ordinary write once disks it will work.

yeah...only cdr's work....the reason being is not the software nor the way it writes to the cd. It is the actual media that the CDRW's reside on. You can usually play the CDRW's on cd-roms that were made specifically for computer systems (ie laptops, desktops etc) anyway try putting that same cdrw in your home stereo and well you know the outcome...the material layed on the blank disk is what causes it's inoperability in normal home stereo's. So yeah someone came up with a good idea when they invented CDRW's but in a sense...they still suck!!!!

: : : Hi

There are some new cd-players out on the market that can play cd-rw's. I have yet to find cd-rw's that work on older model cd players though. I know that Best Buy has a philips portable cd player that works with cd-rw's that I want to try.

Re: HELP HELP HELP !!! How do I get CD-RW's to play in CD player

Actually, it is not the media, but the strength of the laser. In ordinary home CD players, the laser is not strong enough to read a CD-RW. A CD-RW is a multi-layered media, which allows for re-recording. CD-R is similar to ordinary CDs, so they are actually playable on your typical CD player.

Playing cd's on the computer

Since buying the computer everything was fine when playing normal cd's, however now we are having problems. The cd's player tries to read the cd that has been entered but it cannot detect a cd. Is it possible to download a cd player program from another site to possibly cure this problem and install it permantly?

Re: HELP HELP HELP !!! How do I get CD-RW's to play in CD player

I just bought a sony cd player that was 100 bucks and it says on the package that it plays CDRs and i have tried five different brands of CDRs. Is there a specific brand of CDR that will work and at what speed X1, X2,... would be the best. PLEASE HELP! I called sony and they told me that they don't play CDRs but the package said so, so they told me that it might play some CDRs.

Audiobook Tools needed

Hello!

I am doing an audiobook project and I need to know
what the best software would be. I have little
experience with sound recording, so I need a tool
that is easy to use.

I plan to add sound effects and multiple voices
in dialogue(no more than 3-4 at once). If anyone
can recommend an excellent and cheap sound effect
collection, I would be very grateful.

Thank you,

Robert Lionheart

Cubase VST/24 cashes New G4

I can not get my Cubase VST/24 to work on my 450mhz (sawtooth) G4. Everytime I try to open the program it crashes or freezes the computer. Steinberg tells me to install floppy enabler 2.0. but even when i do this the problem remains. Any suggestions.

Re: Cubase VST/24 cashes New G4

Often, when Cubase crashes/freezes upon launch, it has to do with the audio/midi settings (it is trying to load a driver that it can't)

Check the ASIO/MME settings (they can be accessed outside of Cubase). It may take some trial-and-error. It may be easier to deactivate everything and see if the prog will load, and then go back and add devices one at a time.

Recording & printing music

Can anyone please advise where I can download some simple software which will enable me to write music in the standard treble and bass notation format and then print it off.
