I very recently bought the HP CD Writer Plus and installed it into my computer. The reason for buying it was to burn songs off of the internet. However, I am having trouble "burning" them. It says that they need to be in wav format, but everything i have downloaded is a MP3. Can i burn MP3's with the burner i have, or do i need special program? Either way, how do i go about it? Thanks

Slowdown section of music

i downloaded slow gold II in hopes i could slow down the solo in warpigs, put the shareware version only allows tracks 1 and 2 of a cd. I need someone to point me where i can get shareware/freeware of a program that slows down music, be it any track or even mp3.

If you can covert the song to a wav file, you can use cooledit or soundforge to slow it down.. even ACID will work. otherwise, if you have a CD-r, burn the song to a cd in audio format, as the only track on the CD or at least the 1st or second.........

Cakewalk 9 Tempo Problems Help!

Whats up.
I recently upgraded to 9.0 from 6.0. However, why is it when you change the tempo (sayin an 8 measure loop) it will only change the tempo for maybe half of it. I know you can just "view Tempo" and draw it straight, but is there a reason it does this? I never had this problem in 6.0

I know this isn't the spot for this, but CAN YOU GUY'S PLEASE GET MORE CREATIVE!!!! Maybe it's just me, but if I hear one more track that sounds the same as a million other song tracks (which sounded the same 5 years ago) I'm going to kill myself.

It depends if you want to record on to your computer or if you want to sequence on your your computer and record to a DAT or tape CD etc
What sort of computer and equipment do you have?
You could buy something like an Audiowrek card which gives you 8 analog inputs.
As for software Cubase, Logic, N-Track.

I use Cool Edit Pro to record music to my computer.
I use my Fostex 4track record just to plug my instruments
into and then from the 4track I go straight to my
sound card and record in Cool Edit. You can also just
plug your instruments directly into your sound card on
your computer, but I do it through the 4track to monitor
and control the sound better, your not recording to the
analog tape your just using it as an amp. Also most
computer sound cards aren't meant to handle microphones
directly even if they have a input for it, it will sound crappy,
so you'll need to use something to go in between your
sound source and the sound card. CakeWalk is good also, pro audio 9 version.
I hope this helps you out-oh also make sure you get a good quality
sound card, I'm using a sound blaster live which is pretty good
but not the best.

I've looked all over for software that will
convert .pxd loops to .wav files and there
is nothing out there. This is a drag because
the Ejay interface is limited and hard to use.

Here's the best way to convert the files (it's still a pain, but it works and it's not too bad):

Download WaveKnife from:

http://www.spacetaxi.de/sf/waveknife.html

It takes a single .wav file (that contains a bunch
of samples) and splits it into multiple .wav
files of the individual samples.

1) In your Ejay program, set up one track to
output in stereo. Then set up another track
to output to the left and another to output
to the right. I use the 3 tracks closest to
the bottom (less space to drag).

2) Drag each loop into the appropriate track:
- Mono loops go into the stereo output
track;
- "Left (L)" loops go into the left output
track;
- Line up the "Right (R)" loops with their
corresponding "Left (L)" loop in the right
output track.

3) Make sure to leave a space between each
loop. I skipped 1 "numbered" area between each.

4) Keep lining up loops until you reach the end
of the song area (around number 1000).

5) Export this "song" as a .wav file.

6) Run WaveKnife on the .wav file that you
exported and it'll split the individual loops
into .wav files.

This method isn't perfect, but it's about 95%
effective. If the loop has silence at the end of
it, the silence will get cut off (so the loop
won't play evenly). You can fix this by adding the right amount of silence in an audio editor.

The other main problem is that the new individual
.wav files will have to be normalized (to maximize
volume). Many audio editors will do batch
processing for jobs like this.

The one big advantage is that the all of the Ejay
loops that were meant to be stereo are now single
true stereo files (not 2 mono files that you have
to line up and pan).

I Use sonar. It can load any sound fonts from options menu soundfont line. Just browse and attach a soundfont to a bank. Then go for a midi track in main window, in bank part you drop down menu and choose your newly loaded bank. For ex. moog_synth1, then you will notice in line enstrument will appear moog_synth. You can use it now while playing or recording. You can mail me if you need some more basic help.

then click on CDex home page
then on the right side click download

I'm with you, brother! I want to do the same thing. I am in the midst of looking and will let you know if I find one. I think there is little hope for us, because it seems to me that .rmx signifies a "secure" RealAudio format (look at an .rmx file in the Type column of Windows Explorer). I read somewhere that RealNetworks makes a "protected" audio format; I think this is it.

Anyway, if anyone knows of a tool that can convert .rmx to .mp3, please let us know.

Unless you have RealPlayer Plus, the short answer is that it's just not possible. I've tried several freeware programs available and the results aren't great. The easiest thing I've found is to burn them on a CD using RealJukebox, and rip them to MP3s or whatever other format you'd like. A bit long, but at least you get the desired result.

I am also having this problem. I started ripping CD's using Real Jukebox Plus. It has something to do with the "security key" function of that program. I am sick of fooling with it. To everyone: Do not waste your money on Real Jukebox Plus. It's more trouble than it's worth.

I'm going to use the round-about solution. My problem is that I stored my audio files on CD's as data files. Those in RealAudio format have that rmx extension and they WON'T change because Real Jukebox Plus (plus a huge pain) stored them as read only.

Anyone have any ideas about that? I have CD's that I've worn out and need to burn new ones.

Help! Crosstalk problems???

When I record a track in Sound Forge, while simutaneously playing back a previously recorded track, I can hear the previously recorded track in the background of the new track when I play it back. I assume this is a common problem that stems from having both signals running through the soundcard at once. Any tips on how to solve it?
