Anyone knows a program to split mp3s?

I have a very large mp3 file and i would like to have like to have it splitted in
track01 from 0:00 to 3:13
track02 from 3:14 to 4:59
etc...

Re: Anyone knows a program to split mp3s?

You have to convert it to a wav file, then you can cut it into two parts, then re-encode each one with an MP3 encoder.

i need help on editing wav files?

hi,i was wondering if there is a program that anyone knows of that you can edit parts of wav files and can mix in other wav files.i used the sound recorder for windows but it doesnt allow u edit parts of it.

Re: i need help on editing wav files?

Hi,

Are you talking about editing X by combining Y to it? If so, any audio editor can do that. Try Cool Edit 2000:
<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_2k/">http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_2k/</a>

If you want to do some mixing like a DJ, there are many programs. Try:
<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/RE-MIXING_DJ/">http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/RE-MIXING_DJ/</a>

How do I covert MP3's to WAV using Winamp 2.64?

How do I convert MP3's to WAV files using Winamp 2.64?

Thanx,

Re: How do I covert MP3's to WAV using Winamp 2.64?

If you go into the options menu, and click "Output" you will see Nullsoft disc writer. double click it, and select the directory it will save too. then, put all the MP3's you are converting into the playlist, turn repeat and shuffle off, and play them.. you will NOT be able to hear the songs play, and they will go faster than playing speed. when it's done, put the output back to wav out or directsound...

If you have Windows you might find it in your Media
diretory at somewhere like D:\Windows\Media or if
you have Netscape you might find it at somewhere
like D:\Program Files\NetMeeting\Ringin.wav

Do a search on your hard disk for *ring*.wav

help!

I've been trying to get ahold of good sequencing software, somehting that will allow me to write midi, use wav files in loops, and use my sampling software, but i don't know if i've found what i really want...I have cakewalk (just got it), looptrax (bad interface), and a registered version of Acid Music (doesn't support midi)...how good is Cubase? I've heard alot about it....

any help would be good...my email: sganapat@utk.edu
thanks

Re: help!

HI, It appears that you've become familiar with LoopTrax. What exactly do you mean by bad interface? I've just acquired it not long ago and it seems like all my wavs are decimated when going through the program... Do you now a way to diminish those unwanted sound degradations with looptrax? please I'm going nuts! And there's not many sharewares that offers live midi triggering of wavs with keynotes assigments... If you could just tell me a bit about it, I'd be thankful......

AIFF samples?

Hi.

I'm looking for a description of exactly what is
contained in a single uncompressed digital sample
from an AIFF file. If you know anything about that
or know of any literature that deals with it I'd
very much appreciate a pointer.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone know how to conver music file from MP3 to .ra or .rm please let me know. I really need to know what software can I use and how. Thanks a lot.

David

Re: Conver from MP3 to .rm or .ra

Hi,
One way to do this is to go from MP3 -> WAV -> RA

I believe <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_2k/">Cool Edit 2000</a> can do this.

Warm regards
Geoff

classical music cd database

What is the best cd database to register your collection of classical music cds?

And how can I get it?

Re: classical music cd database

Hi

You should use a CDDB-compatible CD player or database program. The player will read the disc and grab its title off an online database.

You'll find this kind of software here:
<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/CD_PLAYERS/">CD PLAYERS</a>
<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/COLLECTING_CATALOGING/">COLLECTING & CATALOGING</a>

If you want to know what the CDDB is, try <a href="http://www.cddb.com/">http://www.cddb.com/</a>

Re: classical music cd database

I found the links suggested below pretty frustrating. All the programs are too simple, more like rock databases with extra fields. I had good luck with ClassiCat at one point, but I don't know if it now has CDDB capabilities or not.

audio to midi/mac?

i have a question re: vst instruments (within the mac cubase environment): what i want to do is use a rhythmic source (either a pre-recorded .aiff or microphone input) to trigger a vst synthesizer. a long time ago, i used an arp 2600 that i triggered by a recording of ice falling on snow...the synth sounds took on the rhythmic and volume characteristics of the ice...

Software Search

Hello

I'm looking for a software program that will allow someone to sing a melody line into a mic connected to the computer. The software would than "score" the notes of the melody line and then use the musical score as a foundation to build a song with full instrumentation.

Is there such a program available?

If you want to convert .rm to .avi, check out the url below... you'll need to dl HyperCam and turn your hardware acceleration to 0--instructions are all at the site below.

I FINALLY FOUND IT!!!

i finally found it!!! a program that can convert all my crap .rm files into an .avi or .mpeg. (i haven't tried to convert into .mpeg yet). it's called EO Video. download it at: www.eo-video.com. it's trialware with a 15 day evaluation period. for all those free enterpriser types out there you might want to find version 1.2 if you know what i mean ;) 'nuff said!

disclaimer: i found the program very easy and straightforward enough to learn the essentials quickly. since i play with new proggies all the time i better be a little more sensitive to those not geeked out;). i'll write this with my sweet ol' grandma in mind. she hates complicated sh*t. she also has beef with realmedia. don't we all. so please don't ambush me with lotta questions. i just started off with this divx stuff myself. these are directions only of want i did. i'm not saying its the only way or even the right way. if you still find what i wrote hard to follow...sorry my friend i can't help you. all i know is it worked for me. i've tried t.i.n.r.a. and other .rm converting programs with mixed results (t.i.n.r.a.'s name is a very cool statement (T)his (I)s (N)ot (R)eal (A)nymore but i would have went further and named it t.S.i.n.r.a.

directions:

-ready granny? let's start:)

-first download it, install it and open it.

-a window called "EO Extension Manager" will pop up automatically. it comes up to warn you "in red" if any viewing programs are missing. why? i'm not 100% sure. i'm assuming EO uses some drivers or the actual program to make the conversions. so if you are converting from *.rm to avi unfortunately your gonna have to have realmedia player desecrate your system. (i'm missing the quick time player myself.)

-if you have all engines you want then close this "EO Extension Manager" window.

-there are three columns. two are colored white (left and center) and one is dark gray (right).

-i like to drag and drop. so i find my crap *.rm file then i drag and drop it in the dark gray far right column.

-at the bottom of the white far left column you'll notice some light gray tabs that say: explorer, player, converter and joiner. (yes my friend EO can join multiple .rm files into one avi too:))

-click on the light gray "converter" tab.

-the two white columns disappear and are replaced with a skinny dark gray column on far left and a fat light gray column in the center.

-in the skinny dark gray click the "simple" button. if not already set to simple. (i haven't played with "advanced" yet. next time!)

-in the fat light gray center column choose your output format: avi or mpeg.

-also in the fat gray choose your video/audio compression codecs. don't be afraid to use the scroll bars to see all settings. (no need to write me concerning which codecs work best. remember i'm just starting off too. but i can tell you want i used. for video codec: divx mpeg 4 low. the audio codec was already set to: microsoft adpcm, 11025hz, mono, 8bits. good luck!)

-back to the skinny dark gray column click on the "output" button. give a name to the new file you're about to make and tell EO where you want it saved. (i like to save it on the desktop then move it somewhere else later).

-in the skinny dark click the convert "button".

-then click the "start" button and wait a very long time. but it's worth it. 'cause one it works and two no more realmedia crapware.

-after you begin the conversion process notice the clock counters. (you may have to use the scroll bars to see everything) the counter represents the actual time length of your movie. it will start at zero (0:00:00:00/hrs:mins:sec:ms) and work its way up until the movie is over. (still realize a 9 min. *.rm clip could take an hour to convert to avi.)

-also note: after conversions i always get a random error window saying: "RMX caused an invalid page fault in module PNEN3260.DLL at 017f:6215647d." i really don't care as long as my movie plays alright as an avi. no more rm files!. oh, did i mention i really don't like realmedia. they think they're skynet® or something. their technology sucks. its over saturated with crap you don't want and never asked for. their conversion tools are grossly overpriced. they should be scared. it was only a matter of time before granny and the masses got fed up with their crapware. realmedia we got you by the balls now! run granny's coming for yah and she's totting a heavy handbag! don't mess with grandma fool!

-o.k. i'm a little crazy. later!

Where can I find Cubase VST24 full version (no demo, for pc).

Send me a mail.

Most music shops will carry this title for PC or Macintosh. Other than that you may be able to buy it straight from Steinberg themselves.

How to put encoded MP3's to CD (software?)

hello. I am new at this but I am ver interested in learning. OK, my questions are..

I want to convert encoded MP3's to CD (128kbs) and I was curious what software would be best to do this? I am buying an external cd-rw and need advise on to how I should go about this... I think it bad ass that I could fit almost 10 hours of encoded MP3's on 1 cd! I am also buying a special cd head unit for my car that decodes MP3's, so this should be cool. I appreciate any help..

looking for SoundForge similar prog for Mac

Hi, I'm desperately looking a Macntosh Sound Editor that resembles as possible Sonic Foundry's SoundForge. So far I've downloaded some editors, but they all seem very small programs that lack the great features Sound Forge has, and unfortunately, Sonic Foundry doesn't seem to have a version for Mac in the works. If anyone can tell me which is the closest match of this porgram in the Macintosh please e-mail me at the above address. Thanks.

Macromedia SoundEdit 16 is what you need my man

Bias Peak...

I'm not familiar with Sound Forge but if it's a audio editor then you should have a good look at Bias PEAK.

It's a quite expensive pro audio editor for the Macintosh Platform and has many excellent features including support for AudioSuite, TDM, and Premier plugins. It can load and save MP3's and has sampler transfer via manufacturer specific protocol or SMDI. It's considered as the standard in audio editing for the macintosh and is used in many Professional situations. I think the newest version now supports Steinberg VST pluggins as well. I use it to transfer samples to and from my sampler for editing which is a great feature.

help for i-book user

I am working on a Macintosh I-book and want to know what software is appropriate for me to be able to simply listen to music and download it from the net.

I-Book Music...

There are plenty of ways of listening to music on your Macintosh, and downloading it from the Net. If you've heard of it, Napster is a series of servers that allow exchange of Music in MP3 format. It's generally full of commercial music which is causing problems to the massive bank balances of the music industry giants, hoorah!! Napster is called Macster or Rapster, (there are others I think) and can be downloaded from here...

http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10222-100-2076052.html?tag=st.cn.sr.dl.1

MP3's will play back using Quicktime 4 which you will probably already have or from a number of MP3 players like Audion...

http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10222-100-1554596.html?tag=st.cn.sr.dl.1

Just a tip, I have registered a copy of Amp Radio

www.subband.com

Which cost me a measily $10 and is highly recommended as a Internet Radio application. You can listen to hundreds of different radio stations, from comedy to jazz, and press the record button at any time which records the stream to MP3 format onto your desktop!! The new version allows you to broadcast your own station as well if your into that sort of thing. It is also an MP3 player which allows you to drag and drop your MP3 folder into the MP3 playlist for easy playback, sound like an advert? it's a recommendation.

Transfer samples from s1100 via SCSI

Hi.
I want to transfer samples from my AKAI S1100
to a pentium II PC via SCSI. I have an adaptec
1510 SCSI adapter, and I have tried some programs,
i.e soundforge and mobius, that recognize the
adapter but not the sampler. They seem to require
that the sampler supports SMDI.
Does anyone know of some software that will allow
me to communicate with an S1100? For the mac there
are zillions of programs available, so it can't
be impossible!

Thanks,
Pia

Re: Transfer samples from s1100 via SCSI

There are a few programs that will work with Akai
Adaptec SCSI drives:

<li><a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cdxtract/">Cdxtract</a>
<li><a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/SampliFile/">SampliFile</a>
<li><a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Virtual_Sampler/">Virtual Sampler</a>
<li><a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/SampliConv/">SampliConv</a>

This one works with Akai floppy disks:
<li><a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/AKAIdisk/">AKAIdisk</a>

Let us know how you go.
