I Need Some help On my Adaptec Program

To whom this may concern,
I have just recently bought a Mitsumi Cd Burner and got the Adaptec program to run it with. I have dragged the songs to the area that I need and I go to record them on a Blank cd but no matter how many songs I have it will record one song and then skip one and then it will pop my cd out and say that it couldnt complete the transfer. Please give me any advice on how to fix this problem, Thanks
Clayton

Re: Need help with Adaptec CD Creator

Hey I have adaptec too all you have to do is close the wizard when you first open the software then insert a CD open it in the program so that a list of all the tracks appears in the lowest window you can then right-click on various songs and you should get the option to pre-record that song to a wav file, go ahead and pre-record it and any other songs you want from any other CD's you should save these new wav files in a seperate folder maybe on your C/drive then, open that file in the top right window you can now drag your pre-recorded wavs into the lowest window to create a compilation CD...Happy burning!

Re: Need help with Adaptec CD Creator

I dont' know many freeware programs or shreware programs out there, but Goldwave
( www.goldwave.com ) is a good program, it has a free download, but I think they still want you to register it.. -OR- if you have any programs that support wav creation/modification, save the wav file in A-law or mu-law.. I think that's what they're called, they are the "compliant" formats for telephone audio. A-law and mu-Law are both windows system formats...

: hey i need help with using the Adaptec Easy CD Creator thing. i've tried using it and found that i can only record songs from one cd onto a blank disc. i don't know what i'm doing wrong. can someone please help me? actually if someone could even just explain exactly how to use it that would be really helpful. please email me at Adidas9187@aol.com. thanks!!!

Re: Need help with Adaptec CD Creator

: I have saved a number of tracks from different c's into a playlist. when i try to create a CD it says insert the Cd\D that the tracks came off. I only have one player. Whay am I doing wrong. A good set of instructions would be nice. Thanks Jim

voice on the phone

What's the best way to recreate dialogue, recorded digitally, and make it sound as coming from the telephone?
I'm editing on EditDV, Mac.
Any freeware filters?
Thanks,
Angelo

Re: voice on the phone

If Macs allow you to save in various wav formats, then try to use A-law or Mu-law A=american mu=micro(I think).. therse are the standard formats for wav and phone playback,,, as for keeeping a standard audio file, if you have access to an FFT filter or similar.. you need to cut out all frequenceys except those between approxamitely 450Hz to 11025Hz (11Khz).

Hello Angelo,

The frequency range on the telephone is mainly in
the mid frequencies so take out the bottom end
and the very top end of the EQ, and maybe add
some reverb. That's not the professional method
and it depends what sort of phone you are talking
about - basically trial and error.

Best of luck,
SMM

Desperate for Atari Notator Help

My composer brother died a few months ago leaving his life's work on Atari Notator. I am ignorant of music software. While I can figure out the MIDI files, I'm unable to determine what the file extensions .SON, .BON, .PAT represent. I am hoping they hold the sheet music files so I can print out the sheet music for a memorial concert.

A related problem, the computer all these programs were on is defunct. Is there an Atari Notator emulator for PC? If I can open and print these files from a PC, then I think we can perserve his music. Otherwise, it is electronic dust. I appreciate any information this group might have. TIA. Bill

Atari Notator...

For what it's worth, I think .PAT is an extension for pattern which is a part, if you like, of a song or more a phrase within a set number of bars. This pattern could be loaded into the program and then say, repeated a number of times in different places in the song. The .PAT document will hold valuable note information of what your brother would have input. The real thing you should be looking for is the 'Song' data. I have the horrible feeling that the extension is .SNG but don't call me on that one.

Song information for notator is generally quite small and it's likely that one disk holds one or more of the completed songs, (if any). This will hopefully make unlikely the possibility of songs and patterns stretched across more than one disk, making it hard to locate all the right parts for the song. As mentioned by the other reply to your message there are atari emulators for the PC although I have no experience with them, it might prove a solution.

The good news is if you have the songs in .MID format then you could load them into any computer based sequencer and the note information will all be there. If the sequencer gives you the ability to print from the 'score' page which is likely these days, then your problems are solved. Alternatively, there are many people still using ST's for music these days and I think you may find someone here with Notator or Creator that would be willing to at least change them to .MID's for you.

I wish you the best of luck and if it comes to the crunch, you could give me the files and i'll try and do it myself. My old ST probably still works although I only have an old version of cubase, it might load something...

Cheers

Hi Bill,

I'm not an atari expert, but your story touched me. I found a site that seems to have a decent emulator. About the other extensions, I have no idea yet, but if I can find out, I'll drop you a line, OK?

Music Software for Linux

Hi. I am looking to convert to Linux after I finish the recording project I am currently wrapping up. I am wondering about what software is out there for Linux. I currently use Cakewalk Pro 8.0, and Sound Forge 4.5. What is available to do these things?

Any experience out there with Linux? What's the scoop?

Peace

I don't like it, sounds somewhat cliched, but I don't like solid 4/4 beats, cheesy synths, pianos or anything.

I like breakbeats, fat bass sounds and noisy pads.

So my commentary is not particularly relevant.

REBIRTH VS FRUITYLOOPS

HOW OR CAN I PUT REBIRTH AND FRUITYLOOPS TOGETHER
AND WORK WITH THEM?

Re: REBIRTH VS FRUITYLOOPS

You need to set up a Midi Sync. Set one as master (like Rebirth) and the other as slave (Fruity).
This is a bit tricky ...

BTW: Why do you write everything in CAPS ? That is considered SHOUTING in the net. Very rude of you !

reaktor tutorial?

help i need a tutorial or something reaktor is not easy to figure out

Tutorial...

I have had a play with Reaktor on a Macintosh and it was quite fun. I was generally watching someone else use it though, I doubt I could figure it out on my own. The thing about reaktor is it presumes knowledge on synthesis, voltage controlled gates etc... I doubt you'll have an easy ride trying to figure out which virtual lead goes where. The manual should be helpful enough. Have you contacted the company who make it? They will be able to help, they should be able to for the money it costs.

Re: Problems With My Recording...........HELP!

sound recorder isn't a good program for what your doing. It does have a time limit... but if the time limit isn't the concern, it's not too important. As for not getting sound, make sure your mics volume is tunred up (it should be in the sound volume control) also ensure it's not on mute. If that doesn't do it, see if you can plug the mic directly into the soundcards mic in, not the modem's mic in, as that's usually for voice, I think...

wav to midi

I have been trying to find out how to convert wav. to midi. I am using wav. files as background sounds on webpages beacause NetScape doesn't "see" Real Audio for background sounds. It does see midi files which are usually smaller. Any help would be great. I do not have a clue what to do.

Re: wav to midi

Try <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Digital_Ear/">Digital Ear</a>.

RM to VCD conversion

Anyone know how I can convert Real Media video file
( .RM ) to VCD format?

Re: RM to VCD conversion

Thanks Spawn.

Re: RM to VCD conversion

You need to convert the file to an MPEG or AVI.
However, with Realvideo, there is no convertor out there that I'm aware of.

Re: RM to VCD conversion

hi there,
just found a great (if slow) program-it's called
EO Video and it converts rm, quicktime to divx or vcd or svcd!!
try searching on a fileshare site in order to try it

Re: RM to VCD conversion

HEY

I've found THE CONVERTER!!!!

It is called EO-VIDEO PLAYER / CONVERTER

check www.eo-video.com

I'm trying it out... the video output
are available in AVI or MPEG formats.
- MPEG is very clear!
- available in single-file & batch mode
- batch mode is NOT working... & single mode
is a bit tricky too
- still facing some audio-video synchronisation
problems... i.e. Video played
half-way & stopped whilst the audio continued.
- hopefully one of the settings can make it right

Cheers!

Roland XP80

I have a Roland XP80 keyboard and am currently using Evolution midi and Cakewalk sequencers on my PC. The problem Im having is that when I record instruments from different banks e.g. PR-A,B,C, User or XP it is fine until I re load the program as the instruments do not stick. I have the keyboard on sequencer and perform mode as opposed to patch or rhythm. Can you help or am I reduced to recording songs with just the 128 GM sounds.
