I Need A Good CD Ripper.

All i want is a simple, fast, free and good CD Ripper.

Just from CD to wav, no mp3 or any other format. Just wav @ 44100 hz - 16 bit, stereo.

Thanks.

Re: I Need A Good CD Ripper.

Hello there,

You'll find all the ripping software at <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/CD_RIPPERS/">http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/CD_RIPPERS/</a>. There's a decent number of freeware titles there!

Cheers
Geoff

REWIRE problem... cubase/rebirth

i'm trying to link cubase and rebirth thru rewire, but when i open the rewire window off of the "audio" drop-down menu in cubase, i'm only getting the top bar with the rewire and vst legends. the window itself, with the channel-link buttons, refuses to appear. i'm not opening rebirth first, and i've tried opening the rewire window in the cubase .def file, in songs in progress and after launching cubase directly from it own icon. i can find nothing in the manuals for either cubase or rebirth that mentions this problem. fruh stray shawn!

thanks
m

Re: REWIRE problem... cubase/rebirth

I've got the same problem, try to reinstall cubase 3.7 and than start the program once a time. Than install rebirth and start it 1x. Than try it again. Rebirth have to non-locate the Midi source (open first all green icons on the VST panel (rewire) than it has to work !! New problems will come, i'm sure !

Re: REWIRE problem... cubase/rebirth

hey man... actually, i found the solution - an upgrade to rebirth 2.0.1! i'm sure the .1 is just to fix this particular bug. just download the update from the propellerhead website:
http://www.propellerheads.se/home.htm

Re: REWIRE problem... cubase/rebirth

: This didn't help me in my case, First I start Cubase 5.0 then I activate the rewire channels and then I start Rebirth 2.0.1 but the program freezes and I have to cancel it. Sometimes the whole computer freezez and I have tried to reinstall Cubase, Rebirth and whole win98, If someone comes with answer on this one, then that person is worth the Nobel Prize....

DS2416 + Cake9

Cake9 can't seem to recognize DS2416's audio driver setting of 24 bit to be stereo. Anybody who have this combo have any ideas how to make Cake9 default to "stereo" when 24-bit is selected for audio driver bit depth? Cake9 recognizes stereo driver when 16 bit is selected. Other settings (18,20,24) Cake9 defaults to "mono".

Thanks for your feedback.

Problems with sounds on PSR220

I have recently connected up a friends Yamaha PSR220 to a new pentium
430 - I installed cubasis and tried recording a simple drum riff. I
managed to find the correct program number on the software ( so as
to select drums on the PSR ) but when I pressed any of the keys on
the PSR it was not drums but piano. This occurred with all of the
channels I used, I went through all the midi options on the keyboard
to no avail. I am also aware that the PSR is GM and tried channel
10 as this is the percussion channel but again the keyboard was
playing a different sound. I now how to set up midi as I have used
my basic PSR keyboard with my XG soundcard and its own sounds so I
know how to set up midi but there keyboard has me stumped. CAN
ANYONE HELP, IT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.

MIDI cables

I have a Yamaha PSR220, I want to connect it to a MIDI/joystick port but can't find the cables needed so I must make them myself. Does anyone has a diagram so I can learn how to match pins?

Help using Rebirth2.0

does anyone know how to use *.wav files on rebirth.

i'm willing to trade programs for this info.

i have:
soundforge4.5
acid
rebirth 2.0
mixman studio (password needed)

Re: Help using Rebirth2.0

You have to create your own mod file, and include the sounds as drum samples.

DJ Software

Looking for advice from those wiser than I. I want to host a music show in the computer. I, then, want to compress it and send it to be used on a commercial radio station many miles away. As far as I am concerned, the more the computer does the less external harware. That is MUCH BETTER.
Appreciate your wisdom.

humming notes

does anyone know where i can find that software that transforms humming into a microphone into musical notes?

DirectX/VST Pluggin as Standalone Program

Is there any program that can make DirectX/VST Pluggin as a Standalone Program, so all those effects can be used under audio program including MIDI players?

Re: DirectX/VST Pluggin as Standalone Program

: Is there any program that can make DirectX/VST Pluggin as a Standalone Program, so all those effects can be used under audio program including MIDI players?

No, to my knowledge there's no such thing :(
but...Wavelab has a live-input option that channels your audio input through you DirectX and VST plugins, but with significant delay, depending on your CPU and audio drivers.
For realtime purposes it's not the best solution.
If you want realtime effects you'd better get yourself a real hardware effect unit.
If you want realtime effects on the PC, try GuitarFX (if you use a SoundBlaster). Be warned, it's not all that :(

Software Testers Needed

Circular Logic, a new U.S.-based music software company, is seeking
testers for the first product in our line of tempo tracking software
applications. Our patented In Time Tempo Tracking System is a Mac-only
MIDI real-time tempo tracking application. Play your MIDI
instrument, and your computer will follow your tempo changes in real
time. A few things our software will allow you to do is have your
backing tracks follow you without a click, record without having to go
back and tap tempo, or simply play computer music with a human feel.
If you are interested in testing this product, e-mail a BRIEF
description of your set-up and musical activities (hobbyist,
professional film scoring, live gigs, etc.) to
testers@circular-logic.com. We are going to choose about 50 people to
test this product. In exchange for testing and answering a
questionaire, testers will receive a free copy of the final version of
the In Time Tempo Tracking System. Find more information at
http://www.circular-logic.com

PC and non-MIDI musicians watch for our real-time and off-line tempo
tracking products now in development for release in early 2000.

Does ANYBODY know how to convert Real Audio 3.0 files to Wave??P

I have a very rare soundtrack of music I desperately
need converted to wave for my cd burner BUT their
encoded in Real Audio 3.0 files.
Real Jukebox Plus will not let me convert,Winamp will
let play the songs but not convert, even with the Wave
output plugin, and Streambox Ripper I have and it DOES
convert but when I play back the converted song it
has hissing in it on points when the song has a heavy
beat to it.
I need these songs converted desperately for a gift
and after spending countless nights searching and
finding them 1 by 1 now I can't convert them.
Can anyone help me find a suitable converter or
explain to me why Streambox Ripper conversions are
coming out sounding terrible???
All help is appreciated!!

yeah you can use sf2's in logic. Just treat them the same as you would any synth connected to logic.I write down the program no's of the fonts. Load them into "cs font" on the sblive. Create an instrument in logic enviroment and choose a program no for the sound.

2 COMPUTERS NETWORKED TOGETHER TO BE ABLE TO USE GIGASAMPLER + V

Has anybody had any experience with 2 computers together to get round "CPU hogging syndrome"? Does it work? Or should it be avoided?

Thanks in advance for any help.

how to capture sound of GENERATOR s/w synth?

please as wav? how?

Re: how to capture sound of GENERATOR s/w synth?

Right click your mouse in the structure window and open | Modules | Delay/Sampler | Tapedeck

Using the tapedeck you can record Generator's output.

Re: how to capture sound of GENERATOR s/w synth?

Sure, you can record ANY digital audio stream from any audio software using Total Recorder.
You can find this shareware at http://www.highcriteria.com/products.htm
This allows you to record output even from save-disabled shareware :)

Texture by Roger Powell

Does anyone know how to convert a midi file saved as *.sng to a midi file that is readable in Cakewalk? The original program that created these midi files was called TEXTURE written by Roger Powell in the mid to late 1980's.

Re: Texture by Roger Powell

You will have to get a later ver. of Texture Classic that has midi converstion. Versions later than 3.53 have it.

Jim:One way for sure is to play your Texture files back in real time, while recording with Cakewalk. This takes two computers. I had some success using a Roland MC-50.

Re: Texture by Roger Powell

Jim,
This can be done from within Texture. It's been awhile since I've done this, but as I recall you first load the song into Texture, and then export as a .mid file. I forget exactly how this is done, as far as what keystrokes, but could it be <cntl> m? It's possible that only Texture version 4.0 does this. In any case, you will need the Texture program.
- Brian

I don't think they ever came out with a newer version, or even updated it to a Windows version. I used it for years.
