Re: problems with 8port by Music Quest

: I'd REALLY appreciate it if someone would also send me those drivers. OpCode are NOT replying to any requests and no drivers for the 8Port/SE are available on their website (that I can see).

: Thanks!

: : Can someone send me a zip file with the relavent drivers. I have been trying for months to contact Opcode with no help from them. I need a driver for Win98 for the 8port/se.
: : Thanks

: : : : : can't get my 8port working on my new PC:
: : : : : Pentium III 500 Mhz.
: : : : : HP 895cxi Printer, (could that be the problem?),
: : : : : connected with a switch box to the same parallel port.
: : : : : Windows 98.
: : : : : I've read all the relevant documents and upgraded my
: : : : : driver to 1.62 but nothing seems to help. HELP!!!!
: : : Gil,You gotta load in the port settings for your 8 port/SE with the driver install disk given to you by Opcode.A word of warning, the original drivers I got on a floppy with my 8 port/se 2 years ago really screwed with my printer port settings. The fix, download the newest drivers from Opcode, and be sure that you see the 8 port/Se profile on you printer port profile page.I'm not sure what the "dilly-o" is with your switch box,but to be safe, remove it and plug the 8 port/se directly into your printer port on the back of your PC.

I have tried almost everything to make my 8port/SE work. I guess I am in the same vote. If anyone finds a driver upgrade email it to me, Please. I will do the same if I find one.

Re: problems with 8port by Music Quest

Question for Ralph. The software is still not recognizing the 8port. Could you explain with a little more detail what you have done to get it to work? Do I need to use my original disk? I tried only the 1.62 update and have not been successful. Where do I check the printer profile page and how do I adjust it? Thank you.

I have the 1.62 8port driver. Opcode did respond to me and here is what they said:

Yes, use your drivers with this workaround:
Opcode hardware is not compatible with Windows 98, Windows ME, or Windows
2000. Microsoft changed the configuration of those programs, and our drivers
will not interface.
There is a workaround for Windows 98, Ill attach it here.

a problem occurs. For information about how to do this, view the "Restoring
the Registry" Help topic in Regedit.exe or the "Restoring a Registry Key"
Help topic in Regedt32.exe.

SYMPTOMS
When you attach a device to the serial port on your computer and run the Add
New Hardware tool in Control Panel, the device may not be detected.

RESOLUTION
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that
may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot
guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor
can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys and
Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete
Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in
Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it.
If you are running Windows NT or Windows 2000, you should also update your
Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).

To work around this issue, disable Advanced Power Management (APM) for the
serial port. To disable APM for serial devices, change the data value of the
EnablePowerManagement binary value in the following registry key from 01 00
00 00 to 00 00 00 00:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\VCOMM

Re: problems with 8port by Music Quest

What has an APM change on a serial port got to do with a parallel port problem? Did the reg edit really fix the issue? Curious about that? In all my installs I have never had the OS recognise the 8port. (as per the original instructions) You must manually add the device driver using the "Sound Devices and Multimedia" or something like that screen). Once the device is added, you then install the 8port Patchbay software.

I've got versions 1.0, 1.3, 1.5, 1.6 and an NT beta for the Music Quest 8 port/se. 1.6 was buggy from the start and I've never got it to work. 1.5, however, works fine on 95 and 98. The NT version I have had running on NT sucessfully. NT, however, was quite shakey in the timing department.

Note that Windows 95,98 and ME support up to 11 Midi devices. If you install the 8 port and then a generic sound card you may find 11 (or more) midi devices under your cntrl panel/sounds multi media devices. I have had this issue before. The result has been that my 8port stopped working. When I disabled (using the 'disable device' button) some of the 'extra' sound card midi devices, the 8port started working again. My setup now consists of only 'one' sound card device and 8 x 8port devices.... works fine (again, I'm only using ver 1.5).

Dave :)

Re: problems with 8port by Music Quest

I've also been trying to get in contact with Opcode with no success. I think it's too bad that Opcode does not support 8Port/SE drivers for the common versions of Windows (e.g. 98SE, ME, 2000, XP).

I'd be willing
to develop a driver myself. I'm fairly experienced developing device drivers and I have a Masters degree in Computer Science.

Does anyone know where to find the complete technical hardware specification of the 8Port/SE (or even the source code for the v1.62 driver)?

Re: Vokal Auto Tuner

Hi there!

Did you remember to use Cool Edit Pro/2000 with
ActiveX Plugin etc. ??? (It works fine for me!)
Remember that it's not a standalone program!

I have had problems myself, but not anymore! ;-)

Tell me exactly what's wrong and i will try to help you if i can! :-)

I am also looking for other vocoders etc.
And plugins for Cool Edit 2000!

Do you know any good ones???
(like the Sci-Fi plugin)

PS: Good luck with Antares auto-tuner!

Vokal Auto Tuner

Hello everyone out there.

We´re a band from Germany and have just finished recording our CD. The only thing we´re not completely satisfied with is the voice.

We heard about a program to correct recorded voices (audiotuner) and need to know whether there´s a download of this anywhere.

It would be nice if you could answer quickly because those are our last two days of producing the CD and we have rented much expensive stuff till the end of the week.

Thank you

MTminds

Re: Vokal Auto Tuner

I'm not sure, but you could search on www.freedownloads.com or something like that under it. Sorry if it's wrong.
