You will need to use an audio editor to umm... edit the file. Try converting the file to mono and perhaps reducing it from 16 bit to eight bits. Reduce its sampling rate from 44100kHz to as low as you can bear it.

I am looking for a very simple pitch modification routine (Windows, linux, DOS, or source code) that can accept a midi note as input and an acoustic signal as input and shift the base frequency of the acoustic signal to that of the midi note and then output it through the sound card - ALL IN REAL TIME. No frills, minimal overhead, fast!

I think it would be possible to write such a program if you picked up the code for one of the tuners you would use for your computer. Then, you could tell the program how far to shift it. As for one already produced, I don't know of any, and real time is a bit of a push.

Simply click the link "download" on the
program page. Usually you then get a zip-file.
Zipfiles are a "packages" containing everything
you need to run or install the software.
To unpack a zipfile, you need an "unzipper",
like winzip. You can get one here: www.winzip.com

How do I strip down a wav file

I would like to ask any of u good people out there if it is possible
to strip down a sample to the bare bones and separate
the wav file into seperate segments.
If there is a peice of software that can do this (hopefully share/freeware)
please tell me about it.
Also I would like to know the best sites to upload your
music to. I have written a few dance tracks which obviously I want OUT THERE!
so let me know the best places.

What you need is a Wave editor. There are lots of commercial ones across the platforms and lots of shareware ones. You didn't mention the computer platform though, what do you have?

Hey, there is a new site happening that deals with issues regarding the music industry and your own site up (which gives you 100megs of webspace) and it's free. The forum deals with music industry issues and the main guy, Gearhead, is a really nice bloke who's full of info on the website creation side of things. There are a few people doing it now and uploading there own music. The idea is to upload for people to download for nothing although people wanting to make money out of it might find it a good way to advertise themselves. Go take a look and drop a message in the forum.

I have a few editors but none de-noise any samples that i take.

Just wanted to know if there was any software available that could strip a sample
down into seperate components of the sample (voice/drums/bassline) etc.

Not really - the technology or computing power needed
to do this is still a little way off yet.

There is a new forum starting up that hopes to help people set up websites, free... (information on site)... in order to make themselves heard. The general feeling is to provide your music for people to download and also create a series of links to and from each others sites hopefully providing a network of our music. If you want to sell your music then this is not the place although you may find that it provides a platform for you to get your music heard and hopefully generate enough interest for a commercial opportunity in the future.

The forum is there for us to exchange ideas on the subject of the afor mentioned and to help people decide how they feel about Napster and the music industry and also how to set up their own free site and exchange links... 'Please' pop along and post a message with your feelings

Hey, im in a hip-hop/comedy act of two. We do this stuff for fun and in our spare time. I guess we are kinda 'underground'. And we like it. We get heard from sites such as http://www.mp3.com/misledmaniacs and www.woodpecker.com .
Also napster helps us quite a bit. Thx for listening.

There is a program called WinCDG pro that allows you to convert CDG in to KMF ( Karaoke Media File ) Same thing as mp3+G I think.

I recall there was a similar song written by another
Beat poet - William S Burrows I think - it may even
have been called 'Words of Advice For Young People'.

Some of the lyrics were things like...
"Don't trust a prostitute who says she's not interested in money,
What she really means is she wants MORE money"
