Melody Assistant and Harmony Assistant are both fun and helpful products (myriad-online.com I think). These both do score-writing as well, and might help you with music training. They run on both PC and MAC (I have Melody assistant which runs well on my iMac).

Sean,
I need help with this also, right here in the US!
I am interested in composing, actually, gospel
music and using a computer program to score it.
It is very tedious and time comsuming to write it
all down by hand. So if there are a million out
there, please help me also find an outlet to buy
a program that will print out the music I want it
to, with notes, staff lines, notations and all
that look somewhat like printed music out there.
Thanks ! Althea

SB Platinum

I just ordered a SB Platinum although I'm not sure that it could be the right solution. (Nobody gave me better idea). I would like to effect midi and audio recording/playback at the same time using the Yamaha CS2X Synthesizer. I will use the enclosed software Cubasis VST. But I heard that SB Live cards (as well the Platinum edition) perhaps has problems with audio-midi synchronization. Is this true? If yes, how can I resolve it? Does it depend of the PC system? (I have an AMD 1Ghz)

Re: SB Platinum

don't worry!the sb live is a great buy for a great price!it will give you no problem at all!

Re: impulse tracker 3

it hasnt been released yet but it should be out within the next 2-4months i believe. it will still be a free program but at an additional cost you can get the stereo output to .wav and some dsp filtering.

Re: Multiple soundcards for Dj'ing with 1200SL

Wonder if you've managed this yet, I have tried various creative and crystal soundcards on two different motherboards, running windows 98se with 128MB RAM. Two computers running a copy of PCDJ each is sounding rather good at the moment!!!

Re: Multiple soundcards for Dj'ing with 1200SL

Hi, the most simple solution is: buy a creative soundblaster "live" soundcard. It has two stereo output channels. output 1 for player A, output 2 for player B. So you can use a external mixer and makes mixing a lot easier. I also use the NUMARK dmc-mp3 controller with pcdj, that's even more fun!!! Hope you'll enjoy PCDJ as much as I do. greetz, Dennis.

I was wondering the same thing as the person who started this message. Im using pcdj and i have 2 outputs on my sounds card, it being a sound blaster live. How can i listen to the 2 different players on different channels through the same head phones? Im just kinda experimenting to set up beats and mix songs etc. I have no other external equipment just using the key board.

threw in recycle bin

i would like to know how to get my napster files back thay were threw in recycle bin i got them out now cant find want to know how to install them took to long to start from scrach please help me.

Re: threw in recycle bin

Depends on how you "got them out", Hope. If you did File|Restore from within the Recycle Bin, you shouldn't have this problem - they should have been put back where they came from, same folder, same filename. If you dragged them out of Recycle Bin, the filenames may have changed. Try Start|Find|Files or Folders and look for "my*.*" if you had "My Sharona", for example. That should tell you where your Napsters went.

Getting Started

This newbie is trying to find out how to cable his phonograph/receiver to the computer sound card. Can I plug into the headset plug that's in the front of the phonograph (I see no other phono outputs except the left and right speaker jacks) and run the cable to the "Line-In" port of the sound card?

I do have a separate turntable and a separate preamplifier. Can I plug the turntable cables into the preamp and then run a cable from the preamp to the "Line-In" port of the sound card?

Music

Where does one find software that enables a musician to be accompanied by the music, similiar to Karaoke but for instruments not vocals?

What software do I need?

I have an Allen Digital Organ with MIDI and I am wanting to get some software so I can play the instrument and the music can be downloaded to my printer and printed. Someone told mee I need cakewalk and I am not familiar with it. Help please. Much appreciated.

Re: What software do I need?

so what are you familiar with then?apart from cakewalk you have cubase, logic.these are the only sequencers that have score facilities.if u can live without it,check out databecker music centre pro.at 50 bucks it is great value for money and pretty easy to use!if u need a low cost scorer, then go for mozart!all that talk about scoring frankly makes me cringe!

hey if u figure it out could u drop me an e-mail with details i've been stumped on this for a while

please...extract a single instrument from wav?

is there a software that can extract, for example, the piano part from a wav with strings and a piano? PLEASE, i need it badly

Re: please...extract a single instrument from wav?

it is nearly impossible.
try DiamondCut, cutting all the non-stereo parts.
or try ReCycle, or I don't know. Sorry.

Index points and CDR

OK, so I want to burn a mixed 35 minute track on my CDR... But of course I want tracks/regions/indexes so I can skip parts of the track on my CD-player - Problem! Adaptec Easy CD Creator doesn't seem to support regions or index points?! I tried NERO which supports index points, but then it said that my CDR didn't.. sigh.. So, how do I create index point/track markers in a long track without splitting the track? And what hardware do I need?

Changing audio tempo

I recorded 32 audio tracks in cubase 3.7/r2 (PC). I now need to speed up the song. Should I do this in Cubase, or should I create 1 wave file, bring it into Wavelab and then speed up the song? I'm not sure how exactly to do it in either program. (I would like to do this without losing any sound quality.)
Thanks.

Recording directly to CD

Is is presently possible to burn audio DIRECTLY to a CD? I have some 20-30 min tapes and would prefer not to have to make a wav or mp3 file first. If it is possible, what software is recommended?
